Punches well above its weight…red fruit aromatics and palate with density and heft that makes this feel like a Friday night wine — 10 days ago
Cuvaison Estate Grown Pinot Noir 2017: Medium-bodied. Elegant soft tannins. Nice acidity. Cranberry. Plum. Boysenberry. Blackberry. Dried herbs. Spice. Soft oak. Medium-long finish. All in all, this wine was a vibrant, beautiful & balanced Los Carneros Pinot with fantastic layers of fruit flavors. A great representation of this area and the perfect “welcome home” wine after weeks of not drinking any Californian Pinot Noirs. Great day to all! Cheers🍷 — 15 days ago
Birthday Pinot for Jill. A really wonderful bottle with great expressions of all its profiles. Bright red and light. Has a strong knack for cherry cola, dark plums and wonderful spices. Just a bit heavy, but typical Carneros. — 20 hours ago
Nose has cherry jam, wet leather, wet leaves, alcohol and dried cranberries.
Palate has under-ripe tart cherry, dried raspberries, dry leather and faint dry soil notes.
Not holding as well as the 2005 enjoyed over two evenings earlier this week. If improvement comes at 24H, notes might be updated. Decanted 90m. — 22 days ago
Consistently my favorite RM Pinot, this was the last of my 2016s…no restraint! No surprise, it showed the most layers but also the most in reserve for evolving down the road. For those who still have, I’d hold another 2-3yrs, or decant 2+hrs.
This was opened later in the evening alongside other wines, but at least was given a decant for about an hour before it was mostly consumed. Out of the 2016 single vineyard Pinots I’ve consumed, the easy answer is it’s mostly similar to the Summa, but just because that’s the easy answer doesn’t mean it’s the wrong one. The similarities with the black tea, pomegranate, mint, and muddled underripe raspberries are obvious but where it diverges from the Summa is with the blood orange…the citrus layers here are absolutely fantastic. A great combo of fruit and savory notes (doesn’t seem to have much whole cluster), with nervy acidity and a lengthy finish. This is just beginning to unfurl. — 2 days ago

Found this bottle hiding on a shelf at The Artistry San Pedro. The owners were kind enough to allow me to open and decant it this evening.
Delightfully surprised that the porty nose blew off to reveal dried herby cran cherry rosemary notes with amarone style flavors and smoked oakiness on the palate. — 14 days ago
