Elevate Mendocino County Sonoma County Pinot Noir 2017

A very tasty Pinot Noir from California. Nicely balanced with a nice smooth mouthfeel. Easy drinking with medium acidity.

Medium bodied and dry on the palate. Fruit forward with nice complexity.

Showing red fruits with light wood, spices, tobacco, chocolates and peppercorn.

Tangy finish with soft tannins.

Good right out of the bottle and good by itself.

13.2% alcohol by volume.

91 points.

$50.

Côte de Boont Anderson Valley Pinot Noir

I do love this producer. First timer, found great fruit and learning from a sense of what he could achieve if he cares enough — 9 days ago

Ceritas

Hacienda Secoya Vineyard Pinot Noir 2016

Beautiful and very Anderson Valley. The strawberry, rhubarb, plum and cherry fruit is deep, dark, layered and rich without being heavy or jammy at all. Crushed velvet. A little mocha and cola, and of course soil tones as this is Ceritas after all — 20 days ago

Etude

Estate Grown Grace Benoist Ranch Pinot Noir 2018

2018 vintage. Medium-bodied. Pretty/candied nose and entry palate. Glides along without any sharp edges. Ends up being a good MOTR pinot and they come in handy for bigger groups and the casual wine consumer. — 11 days ago

Elizabeth Carneros Pinot Noir 2016

Bright ruby garnet with a dark purple core. Inviting nose of Marasca cherries and a hint of vanilla. Medium palate echoes the nose with classic Carneros medium minus acidity and low tannins. Moderate finish. While I prefer PN with darker fruit and better structure, this is definitely a classic example of the California style that should more than satisfy those who favor it. The low acidity makes it work well with spicier fare like blackened salmon or Mediterranean duck. Drink now through 2024. — 3 days ago

Twomey

Monument Tree Vineyard Pinot Noir 2012

I’m biased but the crown jewel is performing very well tonight. Brown sugar, bright raspberry, basil. Firm tannin and surprisingly strong length. Precise on the palate with a very subtle menthol finish. — 19 days ago

Los Carneros Pinot Noir 2014

August Sebastiani & brother-in-law, Kendrick Coakley, craft small-lot wines made with minimal intervention, so one can enjoy the truest representation of each appellation & how its terroir impacts specific varietals. Came across this rarity & grabbed a bottle. Aromas of ripe berry fruits & wafts of floral notes. On the palate raspberry & blueberry flavors, sweet cinnamon spice with an edge of tobacco tones. Smooth tannins, lingering ending with soft oaky notes. Great value! Nice! Small production. — 18 days ago

Kirkland Signature

Carneros Pinot Noir 2019

Solid. Especially given the price point. Not enormously complex but very easy drinking. A bit of strawberry, ripe cherry and plum. A bit too sweet for me. Almost a bit of cab caramel apple. No tannin. — 2 days ago

Always a good CA bubble.

Fruity with plenty of acidity and dryness. Visual bubbles faint but noticeable on 2nd day, plenty good unseen saturation.

Savoy Vineyard Pinot Noir 2017

Wet volcanic rock, burgundy, gasoline, fireworks. Just a flavor explosion; less cherry and acid than the Peay. As good, probably better. I had the ‘13 of the Savoy in Hawaii, and it was also excellent. “Tastes like a quarry” — MRM — 8 days ago
