Very approachable indeed. Still a little shy, but beautifully balanced with liquorice, leather and dried floral notes on the nose, with an earthy palate that finishes with insistent tannins. Finished a main of beef, then needed to bring out some cheese to restore saliva levels. Decanted for four hours, but keen to leave this overnight and see how it develops. — 6 days ago
Dark tawny color. Mostly opaque. Obvious Nebbiolo nose. Notes of anise, tea, rose petals, some balsamic vinegar and a little tar. Silky and smooth in the mouth. Tannins fully resolved. Almost sweet in its finish. This for me is at peak and is in a great drinking window. — 10 days ago
Now we’re talkin. Haven’t had a Sizzano in like 37 years. Dang. Relatively youthful color. Nose is lively and high-toned. Floral, bright cherry and red fruit, loads of crushed rock-infused dry warm gravel. Intense yet light-footed in the mouth. Forceful acidity buoys macerated cherry flavors that turn minerally as the finish extends. Some soft tannin hidden in there too. Will last and improve over the next several years but really fine now. Go Spanna! — 9 days ago
Rose and Rosemary nose marry!
Light delicate floral side of Nebbiolo. Pale purple petal notes. Bright acidity. As if a rosey grape adult Jell-O shot melted into your mouth and asked for a date with a caprese salad and pasta pomodoro. That would pair deliciously! — 2 days ago
This was a little more shut down than past btls but with air revealing its greatness. Whole cluster showing lots of purity & elegance with notes of cherry, strawberry fruits, spice, rose petal & violet. Beautiful balance & length that needs more time but hard to resist now. — 7 days ago
