Montecappone

Rosso Piceno Red Blend 2016

Lovely nose of spiced fruit, ripe plum, raspberry jam, and cinnamon. Spicy dark fruit, oak, coffee, black tea, blackberry, sage, and licorice. A lovely wine that starts a bit shy, but opens up nicely. Medium tannins, medium plus alcohol, and medium to medium plus acid. — 9 days ago

Mai Sentito Sparkling Verdicchio Blend

Toasty and super dry like a good champagne but with bigger more casual bubbles. Love it! — 24 days ago

Collestefano Verdicchio di Matelica 2019

Delectable Wine
8.9

The 2019 Verdicchio di Matelica is racy and vibrant in the glass with a kiss of sweetness that I’m finding quite alluring. Lemon zest, peppery herbs and florals give way to crushed limestone and hints of peach. It’s soothing and gentle, yet with enough juicy acids and spice to create a wonderfully balanced expression. Salty minerals linger long on this tension-filled and thirst-quenching Verdicchio. (Eric Guido, Vinous, September) — a month ago

Brancaia Merlot Sangiovese Blend 2011

Wow, great value. Deep Ruby with fresh red berry aromas. On the palate this full-bodied wine has ripe cherry flavors, tangy with firm tannins and warm oak on the finish. The alcohol is a little sharp but overall good balance. Easy drinking Merlot, Cabernet & Sangiovese blend. — 24 days ago

Fattoria Mancini

Roncaglia Colli Pesaresi 2018

Albanella is the main variety. Autoctone grape from Marche. Very much Muscadet style. Perfect with oysters, raw mussles and crustaceous. I’d love to taste this wine in a few years to see its development potential. — 12 days ago

Velenosi

Visciole Querci Antica Lacrima

Very interesting dessert wine from La Marche. Blend of Lacrima (70%) and Sciroppo di Visciole (30%) red wine blended with local sour cherry juice. Not syrupy sweet. Lots of sour cherry fruit flavor. Lower alcohol than typical dessert wines. Made a great addition to a Champagne cocktail. Bet it would be a nice compliment with some chocolate. — 18 days ago

La Marca di San Michele

CapoVolto Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore 2018

With each bottle, I enjoy these that much more. This has the crisp character of a seaside wine, but also the power & detail of honeyed peaches. It brings the delight & beautiful, approachable fruit but is wonderfully balanced with fresh acid. One to watch as it comes from 15 year old vines. This bottling will continue to show more and more with each vintage. Beautiful. — 11 days ago

Saladini Pilastri

Organic Rosso Piceno Sangiovese Blend 2019

Color of cloudy purple, a bit dark. Nose of cocoa and cherry, lavender, and strong alcohol. Taste of leafy and grassy note, good tannins, peppery, cherry, vanilla, raisin, and a bit salty mineral. Aftertaste has more peppery note, drizzling zest, medium short. Average. — a month ago
