Bin 7 Riesling 2012

Pale Lemon in colour. White peach notes on nose and palate along with herbal and Lime notes - a little grapefruit. Overall the impression of ripe grapes in a really good season gives one the impression of almost off dry but it is dry. Not as much tension as a few years ago - this being my last bottle. At its peak if you like mature Riesling with a swipe of cleansing acidity to finish off. Again, little or no kerosene or petrol notes which I am starting to believe is a wine fault and the subject of sunburnt grapes as Canberra Riesling producer Ken Helm once told me. 3 Trophies and many Gold Medals on the Show Circuit. — 5 months ago

I really enjoyed this wine. A little stronger than most but did not stay in your mouth with a sharp aftertaste. I would recommend this wine three of us had it today at the table and we all liked it very much. — 5 years ago

Classic Clare Cabernet Sauvignon 2006

This wine won the Trophy for Best Aged Vintage Red at the 2012 Sydney Royal Wine Show. Can't see it myself. Some hints of camphor/menthol and earthy nuances typical of Clare Cab Sauv. Youthful still at 10 years and Full bodied. A good wine but no Trophy. An improved showing 118 weeks later on 30 April 2018. A full bodied Clare Valley Cabernet where the black currant and other black fruits take over the leafy Cabernet Notes. — 5 years ago

@Ceccherini Cristiano You are getting hold of some brilliant old Aussie Wine! Stanley Leasingham was better back in those days than it is now IMO.

@Bob McDonald definitely I wouldn’t even bother to buy the current vintage. I got curious when I went to visit Lita and Tony Brady at Wendouree , they explained to me how important and influential Tim Knappstein was in Clare Valley at the time they took over at the property and so I looked into it. This particular wine probably wasn’t even made by Knappstein though cause I think he left Leashingham the year before or so, but altogether the winery was still following his directions. This is the beauty of wine and all of his magic 😉🙏

Classic Clare Riesling 2005

Highly awarded on the Australian Show Circuit. Hints of Kero and musk. Not fully evolved. At least another decade in front - still ripping acidity. Marvellous purity. 18.5. — 6 years ago
