Introduction Champange from our friend Christina.

Lighter & leaner style of Rosé from what we normally drink. Soft mousse & micro oxidation. Strawberries light orange citrus, cherries, blackberry reduction, watermelon right on the rind, edgy, grainy chalkiness, grey volcanics. spot of saline/sea spray, baguette crust, pink rose pedals & flowers. The acidity is soft & splendid. Excellent finish that is well balanced, has nice tension, smartly polished & persists nicely for minutes.

So'Brune Côte-Rôtie Viognier Syrah 2018

Thanksgiving wine #4. This is a new bottling for me, but I’ve enjoyed Stephan’s wines in the past. Aromatically, one can’t ask for much more than this. Delicate floral notes mixed with powerful fruit and savory character. The palate follows with similar traits, but the weight is incredible here. All of that complexity walking an ethereal tightrope. Beautiful & a perfect wine for an unusual Thanksgiving. — 9 hours ago

Domaine Mont Chavy Morgon Gamay

More of that catnip. A nuanced and developed version of Gamay that just dances on the palate. Fruit doing a tango with tannin, which showed up a bit late to the party because it was doing a foxtrot with the acidity in the hallway. Brilliant juice. — 4 days ago

Côtes du Jura Poulsard Blend 2018

This needs at least 5-7 more years. After 4-hr decant, lovely aroma with hints of future glory, bright fruit, astringent tannin. Like Barry White—this wine has so much love to give. Just needs a bit. Elegant rusticity. — 4 days ago

Domaine Jean-Louis Chave

Saint-Joseph Syrah 2017

Just received, pop and pour just to taste one, rich, lush and powerful, with time in the glass and a harsh decant, it opens beautifully to aromas of Syrah such as pepper, violets and that incredible floral scent, very nice even if way too young and with the oak that is a little too present for now. 91-92 for the potential

Jean Foillard

Eponym' Les Charmes Morgon Gamay 2015

Fresh raspberry, cherry, mineral and violet notes on the nose. Bright acidity and crunchy tannins. Leaner and more angular than the Côte Du Py but still silky. Wish I would’ve held on to it longer as the finish was a bit disappointing. Will improve with age. — 2 days ago

Côte du Py Morgon Gamay 2011

Great Morgon from Foillard. Good acidity, asian spices, barely bricked rim, this is a treat ! Either find 2011 or buy 2018 and wait :) — 2 days ago

Domaine Jean-Louis Chave

Syrah 1989

1989 Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage. I was concerned a bit initially when I noticed a little bit of seepage, but I think it was just a dry cork, as I can attest for the full provenance of the bottle. Color was great with barely any bricking, a lively and bright garnet. A little closed at first but after some time in the decanter it blossomed into a stunning wine. Dried red and dark fruit, leather, roasted meat and black pepper. Very balanced and persists in the mouth for a while. While it shows beautifully now, it is just beginning to enter its drinking window. — 10 hours ago

Beaujolais Villages Gamay 2018

Packs a punch way above a Villages wine. The ‘18 has clean and bright cherry-almond notes, Morgon-like smoothness, and some lighter carbonic notes (a bit of banana?) but nothing crazy, and with some air, it is singing. — 16 days ago

Vieilles Vignes Morgon Gamay 2014

Thanksgiving: traditional lunch, but dinner of venison blackstrap and cedar plank salmon. Had two bottles of this - first was corked, sadly, but this is singing. Previous notes apply. Just a wonderful wine with food. — 13 hours ago
