It's time for my #FridayCabernetfix. Here is a tasty one from California.
Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim. A very pretty color.
Fruity nose with blueberries, plums, currants, light cedar, vanilla, light earth, licorice, black pepper, spices and chocolates.
Medium plus in body and smooth, with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with blackberries, black cherries, sweet strawberries, oak, vanilla, licorice, spices, tobacco, coffee, dark chocolates, light earth and peppercorn.
Medium plus in finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.
This is a very enjoyable Cabernet Sauvignon based Bordeaux blend. Drinking very nicely now, and will continue in the next 5 years.
This 6 year old is showing nice complexity and balance, with a very enjoyable mouthfeel.
Good right out of the bottle, but gets more complex as it opens up. I let it decant for 2 hours.
A good quality wine. Delicious, interesting and engaging.
Good by itself or with food. I paired it with meats, cheeses and light appetizers. Was really nice with the Italian salami.
A blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon 30% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. Grapes are grown in Napa County and Sonoma County.
14.5% alcohol by volume.

PerUs Wine Company Proprietary Red Wine Alessio 2016, Napa Valley, California
To celebrate 15,000 followers on Vivino, i had to open something special.
Inky in color with a short reddish rim.
Strong nose of blackberries, black plums, cedar, light earth, licorice, vanilla, eucalyptus, chocolates, alcohol, herbs, coffee, spices and black pepper.
Full bodied, bold and smooth, with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate and extremely fruity with blackberries, black currants, cooked cherries, figs, raisins, vanilla, cedar, cola, licorice, chocolates, tobacco, spices, alcohol, peppercorn and coffee.
Long finished with fine grained tannins and cherries.
This is just too delicious. What a great red from Napa Valley. An excellent Bordeaux blend.
Rich, dense, opulent, spicy, bold and elegant. Showing nice complexity with a great mouthfeel. Powerful and not for the timid.
Loved the nose and smelled on it for a while.
Although this is so tasty now, it is a sin to open it this young, as it has so much more potential. Will age nicely in the next 5 to 15 years.
The only other wine that I gave such a high score, at this young age, was the Penfolds Grange. I would love to try the two together at the same time. That would be very interesting.
Good right out of the bottle and better as it opens up. I gave it 6 hours in a decanter, and checked it periodically. Tannins come in after 6 hours, so be patient.
Good by itself or with food. A fabulous wine to share with friends and talk about.
I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.
15.2% alcohol by volume.

Bought for $40.00, normally $125.00 and still $125.00 winery direct. They’ve gone the way of a paper label & shorter cork. But for 1/3 the price I’ll take the miner changes. Medium body compared to older vintages. If I paid release I would be disappointed but for $40.00 its definitely worthwhile K&L notes, Beau Vigne's heralded, rising star winemaker Julien Fayard, originally from France, has worked in esteemed cellars such as Lafite-Rothschild and Smith-Haut-Lafitte on his way to becoming Philippe Melka's Director of Winemaking for many iconic wineries across Napa Valley. The 2018 "Cult" Cab is Beau Vigne's estate fruit from a high elevation vineyard 1,400 feet up on Atlas Peak and another closer to the Silverado Trail.
Composed of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Cult is a blend of both of the estate vineyards: Stags Ridge and Soda Canyon, with 15% blended from Rutherford and Oakville. It was aged in 100% new oak. — 16 hours ago
Couldn’t wait to break open from the cellar a few years early. Color - dark purple and red hues. Blueberry cherry, perfume and a stewed meat funk burst on the nose lingering with scents of leather, mint and chocolate. A big bold and smooth taste leaving a strong impression and wanting more. As it sits on the pallet the rich and creamy flavors come forward tasting of black cherry and chocolate-vanilla. A long finish of tar, hints of grapefruit, cinnamon and tannins still very much present. A beautiful wine that could age another 10 year, but will definitely try again in a few years! — a day ago
Cheers to all! I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! 🦃 Thanksgiving was my holiday to work this year, so I had four 12 hr. Shifts. 🤤
With not a lot of time to decant, to tired to really enjoy something complex and wanting a red wine I chose this wine from Costco. Simple fit the need tonight! Nothing offensive on the palate!
I am enjoying this wine; an every day simple sipper that presents with mild tannins, soft vanilla, and loads of red fruit, pomegranate and wet soil. Looking forward to our Thanksgiving meal tomorrow! 😁 — 14 hours ago
Impressive cork after 21 years in bottle. $45 on the secondary market.
Amazing purple, red & blue perfume florals on the nose upon cork pull. Ripe, creamy; blackberries, dark cherries, mulberries, black raspberries, black plums, raspberries, dry cranberries & plums. Mid dark spice, black pepper, clove, cinnamon, vanillin, purple fruit cola, light sweet tarriness, dry crushed rock powder, limestone minerals & steep fruit teas.
The palate & wine are still very solid but, better served 4-5 years ago when it was still peaking. Round, soft, powdery tannins. Ripe, creamy; blackberries, dark cherries, mulberries, black raspberries, black plums, raspberries, dry cranberries & plums. Mid dark spice, black pepper, clove, cinnamon stick, vanillin, saddle-wood, purple fruit cola, light sweet tarriness, forest floor with dry leaves, dry crushed rock powder, limestone minerals, used charcoal, moist clay & steep fruit teas. Amazing ruby & slightly candied purple, red & blue perfume florals. The acidy is a gentle rain shower. The finish is; lush, ruby, elegant, well balanced fruit & earth that slides juicy fruits to earth & spice & persists nicely for minutes. Wine flows beautiful elegance wire to wire.
Treat to drink Joseph Phelps wine at this age.
Excellent back in the day 13.5% ABV that I appreciate & miss!!!
Happy Thanksgiving Eve. 🍁🦃🍽 🎃 — 5 days ago
Active, perfect yellow amber pushing orange hard. Big bubbled beige-yellow head that dropped expectedly quick, with so much action. Petri-dish lacing with cytoplasm graffiti. Huge pineapple nose of fresh-cut ripe fruit! Grapefruit tattoo, but little else. General lemon creaminess; a memo from mandarin. Pineapple rum entry with caramel and vanilla, baked apple, brandy-pear, classy touch of black pepper, allspice, ginseng, soft ginger slices, dried orange peel, anise, and lime. Heady and thick, cut, wiry, and sinewy, but overall, a calculated, choreographed, disciplined display of restrained power, lithe and evocative, with a smooth finish.

Can we give this a high five? It’s supple and also muscular like a power yogi who doesn’t need to end their sessions with an om. Ripe honey (probably not a thing but I feel it), and pickled golden delicious apple skins (also not a thing but whatevs) and goodness it is strong but smooth. It coats the mouth with a a slight kick. Chill and ready but fast moving. Ashtanga Fiano. — 7 days ago
The nose is a juicy slice of watermelon and the fruity acid strangely reminds me of ketchup-loaded bbq hot dogs in the park at the same time. The palate is zippy with spikey fun jumps just like the urchin pictured on the label. This slip-n-slider of a sparkler rolls with fuller strawberry guava body. Among the more tastefully interesting sparkling modern wines. It’s almost thanksgiving but I’m suddenly ready to celebrate the Fourth of July! — 13 days ago
Was looking for a Pinot and came across this Corvina Pinot blend by Brian Harrington. Gorgeous pristine color and what an interesting mix – you may recall that Corvina is a main varietal in Valpolicella, and almost exclusively grown in the Veneto. Have to get more of this. — 12 days ago
