Gamay Noir

Morgon Gamay 2018

Always lovely and fun to try with a bit more age. Still lots of flowers and cherry but with a notably darker edge now. Dangerously drinkable while still being very interesting. Good pairing with a Christmas Eve ham from hometown bbq. — 21 days ago

Clos de la Maréchale Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2009

Let’s explore this 2009 Clos de La Maréchale!

It’s medium ruby with garnet around the rim. The nose is positively perfumed with notes of violet, rose, boysenberry, mulberry, ripe black cherry, kirsch, clove, cedar, vanilla, cardamom, anise, chervil, fennel fronds, leather, crushed stone, forest floor, tobacco, peat moss, and mushroom.

On the palate this wine is dry with medium (+) acidity, a medium body, high alcohol (14% ABV), flavors are concentrated and consistent with the nose. It has a lingering finish.

It’s multifaceted, vibrant, layered and delicious – cheers to exploring the world of wine one sip at a time!

Evenstad Reserve Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2013

12/2024. Sits so well on the palate. Full flavor and not over powering with cherry. My favorite Pinot. Paired so well with my NYE dinner at Hall’s Chophouse.

Beaujolais-Villages Gamay

Medium plum-toned ruby in color, with aromas of strawberry, tart red cherry, banana, raspberry, and cranberry. Dry with medium-plus acidity and a medium body. Bright, balanced, and refreshing.

Happy New Year! 🎉🎆🎈🎊 🧨

Excellent vintage. I think even better for Pinot than Cabernet in some cases.

Baked blackberries, black raspberries, raspberries, black plum, baked, dark cherries, notes of blueberries, dry cranberries/rhubarb, maple syrup, limestone minerals, dry crushed rocks, dry, grilled meats, dry tobacco, wood shavings, anise, cinnamon stick, clove, nutmeg, dark spice, some black lichen, vanillin, warm caramel, sun tea, mid berry cola, dry twig, withering to decayed, dark, red, purple flowers, round acidity, well made, structured, balanced, elegant finish that lasts two-minutes and lands on dark spice, earthiness.

Domaine Drouhin

Dundee Hills Pinot Noir 2022

I love this Pinot. Pairing with Rouladen for New Year’s dinner is an absolute delight. Perfectly balanced, nice acidity, layers of red fruit. Long nose. And after visiting Drouhin in the Willamette Valley last summer, the connection to the winery adds to the allure. Happy New Year! 🍾 🍷 — 13 days ago

Cuvée Vieilles Vignes Musigny Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2015

Great combo but both a bit disappointing in their own way. Chambertin too much fruit not enough depth, Musigny quite light, great nose not followed by a great taste. Needs time to develop but still not meeting expectations. — 3 days ago

Las Alturas Vineyard Pinot Noir 2021

Really tasty. Perhaps the first Cali Pinot noir that I’ve enjoyed, also probably because it drinks more like a zin. Dark opaque red. Slightly smokey. Full bodied. Bought it on sale for $35. Would love to have again. Had with apps on New Year’s Eve, but would be great with food and could even hold up to a heartier meal (steak, etc). — 13 days ago
