Grand Vintage Champagne Blend 2007

Comprehensive notes from 24 weeks ago still apply. Definitely Australia’s best sparkling I think, from Tasmania. Straw and hay aromas with fresh bread. With over 7 years on lees giving this quality and complexity if it was French you would be paying a couple of $100. Champion wine of the Brisbane Wine Show in 2016. — 21 hours ago

Blank Stare Sauvignon Blanc 2017

Lovely nose, white orchard fruit, freshly cut herbs, On the palate typical warm-climate SB, Good freshness when served right from the fridge. Alas, the finish is slightly marred by an abundance of citrus peel bitterness and alcoholic heat (15,5% ABV...)

Westside Road Neighbors Pinot Noir 2008

The replacement for the 2010 Bucher Vineyard that showed just enough V/A to dump it.

The 08 Westside Road Neighbors was in fine shape. Love their fruits & profile at this age.

Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 2015

Smells of bright cherry, raspberry, dried strawberry and violets. Raspberry, plum and light cranberry with thyme and roses on the palate. Touch of anise, cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger snap, but all pulled together by the fruit and a layer of saffron-apple. Uniquely delightful. Had with Sashimi, and wasabi to cut the fog, so held its own. #sojourncellars #russianrivervalley #russianriverpinot #rrv #sonoma #pinotnoir #pn — 4 days ago

Nice view. Never a slam dunk with his Chardonnay. Either it’s just slightly overdone/ heavy-handed or in your case delicious. Cheers.

@David L I can see what you mean about his Chards being heavy-handed and full-throttle; definitely not a style that would be a slam dunk with everyone, for sure.

Maté's Vineyard Chardonnay 2012

Medium lemon in colour. An intriguing classy nose showing funky leesy notes, nectarine, cashew nut, flint and gunsmoke - many nuances. Palate staining citric intensity. One of the world’s great new world Chardonnays - no exaggeration. Has become an annual purchase for me. Postscript:: Similar notes to the 2010 vintage 193 weeks ago. This year I bought the “Hunting Hill” and “Coddington” Cuvées for the first time. Will be interesting to see the differences. — a day ago

@Jan A That’s good Jan. I never dreamt the distribution would be as wide as this.

I have not seen their Pinots here, but would love to taste those at some point. I’m guessing they are worth a try.

@Greg Gosselin I’ve only had their Hunting Hill Pinot 194 weeks ago in Wellington at the NZ Pinot Celebration and it was very good. Notes here on Delectable but I think the Chardonnay remains Star of the Show.

Meredith Estate Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 2017

It is a dark wine, and the nose is very expressive. Blackberry, cassis, vanilla, tea and a slight brambly note are present. On the palate, savory cola and oak spice get into the act, while the tannins are firm, but not overly so. The dark fruit is there, but the savory aspect of the flavor profile definitely leads the way. Have a juicy filet with this one - they deserve each other. — 3 days ago

Light and acidic. The more time in my glass, the more I enjoyed. Red fruit. Tart. Would love to try this again in a couple of years. — 10 days ago
