This was suppose to be a Friday night happy Champagne toast. But like Neapolitan, we drink Champagne in good & bad times.
We raise a glass in celebration of one of the greatest women of our time. Ruth, you were a true champion of Justice for the people. Rest in power. You have earned it. Can’t think of many more deserving. You wanted to hang in there for the people. We are forever sorry destiny had other plans. “2020, The Year of the Apocalypse!” #RIPRUTH
It has been a long time since I’ve had a Nicolas Feuillatte anything and never had their Rosé until It was at Costco for just over $30. I thought to myself time to give it a try & grabbed one.
The nose reveals; black cherries, strawberries, deep, ripe, watermelon, pomegranate & cranberry juice, hints of tangerine & even less rhubarb, cherry kirsch, good presence of yeastiness, bread dough, baguette crust, oyster shells, sea spray, some white spice, watermelon Jolly Rancher/fruit roll ups, fruit tea, saline, grey volcanics, soft chalky powder, candied, red florals that are brilliant with pink & red roses.
The palate is; round, thick, rich, lush & highly polished. Micro oxygenation. The fruits are very ripe, deep and juicy. Black cherries, strawberries, deep, ripe, watermelon, pomegranate & cranberry juice, hints of tangerine & even less rhubarb, cherry kirsch, good presence of yeastiness, bread dough, baguette crust, oyster shells, sea spray, more white spice on the palate with heat, watermelon Jolly Rancher/fruit roll ups, fruit tea, saline, just a splash of herbaceousness stingy, grey volcanics, soft chalky powder, candied, red florals that are brilliant with pink & red roses. The acidity is round & lively. The long finish is nicely balanced fruit & earth with a long set of spice that persists minutes.
Serviceable at this price point but, it’s not going to replace my BSR & Ruinart N/V Rosé habit. — 7 days ago

I always struggle with rose champagnes. Somehow they don't convince me and almost never justify the price tag. But there are a few which I am satisfied with.
Cuvee Elisabeth is definitely in my top list. Its first vintage is 1988 and was created as a counterpart to another prestige cuvee of the house Nicolas François.
This cuvee is about the elegance and finesse rather than the power. Made of equal parts of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir it is blended with less than 10% of red wine from old vines in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ.
Chic rose color with copper hue. Reductive style with a cooler 2007 vintage showing through. Apricot jam, candied citrus, sugar powdered red berries. Delicate bitter cool and dry finish. Disg. in Feb 2019 after spending impressive 11 years on lees. The dosage of 6 g/l is enough to reach the perfect balance.

Sangiovese Rosé, Colombia Valley. Salmon pink with a cherry red tinge, excellent clarity. Cherry cobbler aroma on nose. Cherry and raspberry Kool Aid flavors. Slightly chalky mineral finish, maybe lactic too, mild skin astringency on finish. Blessedly dry. Acid is all right, body is ok or a touch thin in mouthfeel, a minor issue. Great varietal character. Good value — 10 days ago
Surprisingly quaffable Bandol rosé... the edgy Mourvèdre notes are here, blood orange rind, garrigue, bright acidity. But the balancing blend introduces softer melon notes that makes this more accessible on release than other Bandols I’ve tried (Tempier, etc), and at a 30% discount as well. Nice! — 11 days ago
Rosé and comfort food - heck yes! Growing up my mum made ‘sausage swirls’ which are pastry, sausage, potato and cheese swirls. And now they’re my go-to comfort food - however I add a jar of jalapeños 🌶 for a bit of a kick 🙌
I thought they’d be a great match to this bottle of Lansdowne 2019 Pinot Rosé which we were sent as a sample from Good Pair Days (thanks guys!).
Only a small quantity of this wine was made (177 cases in fact) due to extreme weather conditions that year.
If you want to give it a whirl, and/or try out the Good Pair Days experience, make sure to add the code “travellingcorkscrew” for a discount at the checkout 😉
I felt like I was watching the sunset 🌅 as the red-y orange like liquid was poured into my glass. On the nose it had me thinking about wild strawberries 🍓, tangerine and pink grapefruit. While in the mouth it’s smooth and hella delicious. Refreshing, comforting and bloody yum.
This wine was sent to me as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it. By using the above promo code I will receive a small amount of commission.
All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!

Revisiting vintage. Fairly dark for a Rosé but plenty fruity and tasty. Good acid but it’s all about strawberry jam in the mouth with length. Needs a bit of time to settle after opening but aged well for a Rosé, honestly. Some lactic and mineral character on the finish. — 8 days ago
