Domaine Sainte Anne

Sainte Anne Brut Champagne Blend

Delectable Wine

The NV Brut Cuvée Ste.-Anne is one of the best Champagnes readers will find in its price range, or any price range, for that matter. Bright and beautifully focused, the Ste.-Anne has so much to offer. The purity of the flavors is just remarkable. If anything, it needs more time on the cork to soften, as it is quite reticent at this stage. This release is based on 2017, with reserve wines from 2016 and 2015. The blend is 40% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay and 20% Meunier, with the Chardonnay very much in evidence at this stage. Dosage is 5.15 grams/liter. Disgorged: February, 2020. Les Fuées Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2017

Shame on me for pulling the cork a few years too early on this one, but had to for a customer event. And, hey, it was a good learning experience. Intoxicating red currant, cherry aromas, underbrush, dried herbs and spice, dense tannins but smooth like suede (unfortunately those tannins were ever so slightly bitter on the finish). I expect the palate will develop with time (tannins could chill out just a bit more and expect the subtle oak spice will take more of a back seat with time). A very good wine that aspires to be - and just might become - outstanding. Great example of the iron first in a velvet glove. — 9 days ago

Twelve Oaks Estate Pinot Noir 2014

A deep ruby in the glass with a decadent nose full of cassis & cocoa. The pallate brings forward tart pomegranate, hibiscus, with nutmeg & milk chocolate undertones throughout the finish. Not at all what I was expecting from this Pinot, but quite lovely in it's own right. Paired outstanding with an anniversary dinner of pheasant & striped bass! ($45) [11/12/20] — 20 days ago

Sous La Velle Meursault Chardonnay 2017

Gave this 2 hrs slow ox after reading prev CT notes. (The person whom I buy this from said:."uncork, place in cool cellar for 5-7 days corked, and then try"). This is glorious Meursault, and did not show tight to my palate. On the nose: soft reduction, lime, lemon oil, a hint of vanilla, apple, just so aromatically dense. On the palate: the acidity is unbelievably lively, good density, loads of minerality, lemon/lime...ok, density builds to a beguiling finish. I don't want to wax rhapsodic about this wine because the prices are already so high... — 14 days ago

Richebourg Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2016

Could not resist opening a second bottle. Drinks beautifully now, all fruit (raspberries, plums, cherries) with complex and meaty finish. All about power for now but will be tremendous in 10 years. At this rate I won’t have any left. — 15 days ago

Cuvée Anne Willamette Valley Chardonnay 2016

The most gueuze-like beer I’ve experienced. Lemon/limey, oaky, dry, slightly nutty. Crisp and easy drinking. — 11 days ago
