Faustine Vieilles Vignes Vermentino 2016

Here’s to Corsican wine!

This particular wine comes from the Ajaccio appellation on the western coast of the beautiful and mountainous island of Corsica, France. 🇫🇷

It’s made from the native Vermentinu grape also known as Rolle in Southern France (mainland) and Vermentino in nearby Italy, where it’s widely grown. 💕

This wine is vibrant and crisp with lemon verbena, grapefruit peel, white peach, yellow apple, white blossom, and stony mineral notes. It’s dry and refreshing. On the palate it has a spicy, zing that awakens the taste buds. It’s light-bodied, dry, with high acidity. Even with a little bottle age, I’m impressed by the freshness of fruit character. It is fully present and focused.👌👌👌

This is our first experience tasting a wine from Corsica and we’re loving it paired with a meal of grilled salmon, roasted asparagus, and spiralized zucchini.

Les Héritiers du Comte Lafon

Les Maranches Mâcon-Uchizy Chardonnay 2003

Amazing and totally unexpected! — a Chardonnay from a monster hot year, but the age has mellowed it like crazy, oxidated it gently, and it ends up tasting like it’s the softest sherry from Jerez — 15 days ago

Nuances Comte de Saint Victor Bandol Mourvedre Rosé 2019

Delectable Wine
9.4

Light, brilliant orange. Expansive, mineral-accented blood orange, red currant and nectarine aromas are complemented by suggestions of succulent herbs, honey and lavender. Sappy, chewy and penetrating on the palate, offering densely packed red berry, pit fruit and floral flavors underscored by a vein of chalky minerality. Smoothly plays power off finesse and finishes minerally and extremely long, with repeating floral and pit fruit notes. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, July 2021)

Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair

Monopole Clos du Château Vosne-Romanée Pinot Noir 2017

Young CLB never ceases to amaze. Pop and pour magic once again as high toned red fruit, violets and distinctive CLB spice soar from the glass with almost no reduction getting in the way. Finely detailed and ethereal palate with a simultaneous intensity of vivid fruit and a mineral infusion that leads to its seamless transition to finish. Always a special experience to drink CLB. — 8 days ago
