Elegant if a little thin. Beautiful lemon pith and hints of almond cream with flinty mineral undertones. Broad acidity on the palate which gives great tension to the wine, but does feel just a bit muted on the palate. By no means unenjoyable though. Still has some life left in the bottle for cellaring. — 12 days ago
Powerful, & dark fruited. This took a bit to fully open up. It started with heavy oaky spice & black tea tannins. The rich black cherry character moved to the front as well as a more silky elegant texture. Chassagne & Santenay vineyards here. Needs some air or a little more time in the bottle, but a very nice wine. — 13 days ago
Not my usual thing but fun and definitely tasty. Frizzante, 8.5% alcohol, off-dry and young but with nice acids and savory layers. Cherry, juicy plums, almond, a little farmy, some mineral undertones. Next time as an aperitivo or with dessert. From Flatiron Wines. — 21 days ago
A luscious solid gold color in the glass with a highly expressive nose of apricots leaping at you. Lemon cream, maple syrup, and sweet pears run rampant. A touch of almonds to go with constant honey tips this off.
Similar to the Sauternes we all know and love, Monbazillac has a higher percentage of Muscadelle and are a bit more of a secret. Sweet but never cloyingly, there’s nice balance and focus instead of an overwrought syrupy mess. The palate follows the nose closely with all the apricots and pears you could ever want. Spice abounds, along with more almonds and molasses. A very pretty dessert but one with heft and character. — 13 days ago
