On those nose - blackberry, plum, spice. Smokey notes, good tannin level, lingering aftertaste which is good. Pleasantly surprised. Lots of fruity flavors. Deep purple color. BLEND: 80% Cabernet Sauvignon 17% Petit Verdot 2% Petite Sirah Malbec 1%
14 months in French oak. Very good wine. Was a certain flavour (anise?) That I really liked but couldnt put my finger on it. — 6 years ago
One of my favs. A lot of cherries and other fruits and nice and very ripe. — 7 years ago
Quite deep with a ruby core , light garnet rim . Quite young looking . Quite tertiary , with cigar box , grafite some cassis and a grafite note , still very alive and relatively young . On the palate this is quite dusty and earthy , menthol, cassis , tobacco and that grafite hint . Ripe but noticable tannins and refreshing acidity with good lightly grippy length, quite classic . Compared to the Poyferre this is younger but sterner and more foursquare , but classic and unapologetically traditional claret in style. From now with a decant , but this will probably keep well and perhaps improve over the next 10-15 years . — 22 days ago
A good, aged claret. A magnum shared at a family meal of braised beef roast. — 8 months ago

It is time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday. Let's bring Merlot back!
Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.
Pretty nose of black fruits with light wood, flowers and chocolate notes.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with black currants, black plums, cooked cherries, cedar, licorice, chocolates, herbs, coffee, light earth, light vegetables, spices and peppercorn.
Long finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries.
This is a delicious Merlot from Spring Mountain District. Elegant and nicely balanced. Fruit forward and complex. Spicy and soft, tangy and interesting.
Still young, and needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly, but already drinking beautifully. Will continue to age nicely in the next 15 years.
I've had a few older vintages of this Merlot and it is very consistent.
A great sipping wine that will also pair nicely with food.
A blend of 67% Merlot and 33% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged in (50% new) French Oak barrels for 24 months. A small production of less than 9,000 bottles.
14.6% alcohol by volume.
92 points.
$175. — 3 months ago
Young now. All the parts are there and this needs time. Warm bing cherry and baking spices, wet rocks with hints of seaweed. Let’s check back in 6 years — 6 years ago
Fruit is still there! One of my favorites! Bob Foley is as good a winemaker as there is on the planet! Big, fruit driven, plum and rich, but incredibly balanced. Just so good!! — 7 years ago

Nose is raspberry, vanilla, cedar, anise, stewed dark fruit, and cinnamon. The palate adds cranberry, white pepper, cocoa, and rutabaga. Medium plus body, high acid, high alcohol, medium plus tannins, and a long finish. — 14 days ago
