Delicious, very gamey, meaty, earthy and funky Gamay from Brouilly by Château Thivin. With cheese, crackers and olives, so far. — 2 months ago
Nose is very 15 with terrific aged character but also messy ripeness. But it’s precise. Smells really ripe with some sur maturite. Brambly. Palate is super juicy but also has those fierce 15 tannins. Tastes balanced but it’s just at the edge of balanced. 15 is good here as 15 is mess in a lot of places but it’s still the worst vintage from 10-20 at Thivin. Good length. Thick and lactic but also tannic and fresh. Fruit is dark. — 6 months ago
This wine stole the show at Friendsgiving. I brought the bottle but it was so good I wanted to drink it all myself! Red berry fruit forward without overpowering tannins. The acidity was just right for our lovely meal. Overall I’d say I’ll be retuning to this bottle regularly for special occasions. Great smell and aftertaste. — 4 days ago
Bell pepper and spinach (with earth sticking to it). Ample and generous mouth, medium to full-bodied, minerality and black and blue berries on the background. — 4 months ago
The 2020 Brouilly Reverdon has a well-defined nose of blackberry and briary fruit, beautifully defined with underlying graphite scents percolating through with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a licorice-tinged entry, then very concentrated with black and blueberry fruit towards the finish and a lick of dark chocolate on the aftertaste. Lovely. Lovely Thivin. So clearly Beaujolais from the nose which carries through the palate. Decanted 6 hours which I’d suggest at this stage. Lacking just a hint of that acid driven refreshing note on the finish. Still delicious and a great pairing with roast chicken with mushrooms to herald the (near) arrival of fall. — 3 months ago
