Renato Ratti

Battaglione Barbera d'Asti 2020

Located halfway up the hill dominating the principal valley of Barolo, supported by steep slopes lined by orderly vineyards, lies the 15th century Abbey of Annunziata. Deep Ruby with aromas of ripe berry fruits and pepper spice. On the palate flavors of cherry and strawberry, lively spice, well balanced with savory fine tannins on a medium+ finish ending with mineral character. — 2 months ago

Luca Brasi’s twin is serving us.Superb. The color will stain your teeth. Just a tiny splash of cedar at the end. Ripe cherry. — 3 months ago

Bricco dell'Uccellone Barbera d'Asti 2018

Bright. Young. Sweet. Long. This is a very underrated wine. It went swimmingly with our many pasta dishes. Not tremendously deep but it has a subtle sweetness and a very nice finish. Always lovely and fresh. — a month ago

The bottle that put the winery on the map.

Compared to the Vietti bottling that got me hooked on Mascato d’Asti, this single Cru is more viscous and taste a bit sweeter. Certainly the acidity is there for balance. It was delicious and we were drinking too fast. Would be lovely to pair with some light desserts. Lemon pound cake maybe?
