Tremendously flavorful wine. Balanced richness and enough acidity to be food friendly. Enjoyed with a dry rub sirloin and cucumber salad & Brussels sprouts from garden. Inky and clear with no brick. Nose is understated but no alcohol burn despite 14.6 AbV. Loads of ripe black fruits without jamminess. A hallmark of the vineyard and winery professionals, Ridge consistently manages to produce these monster wines that are always fun to explore and enjoy — 8 days ago
Easing my way back into reds with this “house espresso blend” style chilled red.
Missed the musky perfume of carignan. Aromas of cedar wood and peppercorns. Black cherries and grapefruit.
Sharp and fruity. Juicy and refreshing. Even a bit astringent, which I kind of like. — 10 days ago
While the nose is deep and brooding with plum, blackberry, pine cone, worn leather, and dried herbs, not dissimilar to the 04 and 05 vintages, this 06 shows the juiciest and freshest palate. Grainy but gripping tannins that will take another 3-5 years to resolve.

“L” natural Grenache at Primrose 2019 with Zubal on 7/14/21. Dazzlingly delightful recommended by Sebastian for $70. Dances on the front of the tongue. Light, lots of barnyard, to the point of “manure“. Does not stand up to food. — 8 days ago
