History in a bottle. This was Laurence’s first vintage that completely bottled and sold out and oh, what an effort it is! The fruit is so well preserved whilst the abundance of secondary characteristics well on display. Structurally sound still and very much alive. One of the oldest CdP’s I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing and just proves how special these wines really are.

Brickish lighter ruby in the glass, a bit thinner than the 00. Nose is a little subdued vs the 00. In the mouth the tannins are resolved and integrated. Med plus finish. Some pruny notes suggests maybe the fruit was a little overripe. Liked the 2000 more tonight.

One of the best Chateauneuf du Papes I have ever tasted. Bursting with flavor, rich and even creamy notes, plum and black cherries, currants, a little cinnamon. Wonderful. Maureen says, "Porty and yummy, earthy, good."
