Gutierrez Colosia

Amontillado Seco Jerez-Xérès-Sherry Palomino Fino

N: Golden raisins, caramel, oak, vanilla,
Seemingly unlimited depth. Lots of volatile esters. This is day 2 open. More expressive than upon initial opening.
P: interesting salty brine dominates, wood, lacquer, fruits are subservient.Long finish.
Very old fashioned and fortified to 18°

I Think Manzanilla Jerez-Xérès-Sherry Palomino Fino 2014

Beautifully Salty, sort of pear/ Green apple goodness. On a hot August eve, that funk is quite refreshing.
As Townsend said” Extra, extra, miracle cure”
Wow…The beach.

Manzanilla Sanlúcar de Barrameda Palomino

NV | Smell: the sea put in a bottle, salty, a harbor. A hint of dough. Delicate and razorsharp taste. Served with almonds, amuses of ground liver, pate americain and figs with ham. Jolly good sherry. — 14 days ago

Solear en Rama Saca de Invierno Manzanilla Palomino Fino 2020

The Pasadas are a particular favorite of mine. Funkier manzanilla, and with a heavy winter coat of flor, even more.
N:Salt water taffy, salt water, almonds, while flowers.
P: Bone dry, achingly so, not even a hint of wood, all seashore grass and pith. Hinting at fruit. All it’s own.

Lagar de los Frailes

Lagar de los Frailes 3 Fino en Rama

100% Pedro Ximenez from vineyards in Moriles Altos, one of the top areas within the Montilla-Moriles appellation. Vines are rooted in albariza (tosca hojaldrada) soils. Aged for an average of 3 years under flor in the solera system and bottled en rama (unfiltered). Intense nose with notes of toasted almonds and yeast. Sharp, very dry and saline on the palate. A very powerful and sapid, quite persistent wine. Umami 💣 — 18 days ago
