Fruit and oak on the nose, plum and blackberry notes. A really good cab. — 3 years ago
So good. Smooth, cherries, hint of smokiness. Definitely dark fruits are present. — 5 years ago
Tasted blind alongside another bagged bottle. This is also dark ruby, more more opaque than the 90 Chave next to it. Very refined nose with dark fruit, some wood and a green olive thing that differentiates it from the Chave (and from other 90 La Chapelle's I've had in the past). I guessed this as the 90 Chave before both 90 Hermitage bottles were revealed to us. There is definitely some bottle variation with these 90 La Chapelle's as I've had better samples, including a better one not that long ago. The green olive thing was interesting and not necessarily desirable, at least for me. — 6 years ago
Tasted blind. Reddish tawny color. Edges suggest its old. Notes of strawberry, raspberry, iron, roses. Some zing and power in the nose. Slaps your face when tasted. Sappy. Powerful impact. Long finish. Other guesses were in Burgundy land eg Griotte but I went with 90 Rayas. Bingo. — 7 years ago
Great sauv from New Zealand. Grapefruit, peach and minerals. Win. — 2 months ago
Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.
Red fruits on the nose and medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with nice complexity and mouthfeel.
Long finish with round tannins and tangy cherries.
This young Mourvedre from Bandol is starting to drink beautifully now. Already showing nice complexity and good balance, and will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years.
Soft and elegant. Complex and interesting. Easy drinking and good by itself or with food.
A blend of 90% Mourvedre and 10% Grenache. Aged in used French oak barrels for 18 months.
14.5% alcohol by volume.

The estate of Sette Ponti lies in the heart of the Chianti zone, 15 miles NW of the city of Arezzo past village of San Giustino Valdarno. A blend of 90% Sangiovese & 10% Merlot, aged in French Allier barriques. Deep Ruby with red fruit aromas and blossom spice. On the palate blackberry and cherry flavors, earthy spice and grainy tannins. Good balance lingering finish ending with some oak, earthy and mineral tones. — 7 years ago

The 2006 Bordeaux vintage. The vintage while wasn’t Bordeaux’s best, it certainly wasn’t one of its worst. It had the unenviable position of following a grand 2005 vintage. I think better than 2000, maybe 09 & 10? Jury is still out. The Bordelaise also got greedy and raised their prices from 05. That was a mistake when it came to selling the 2006 vintage and it laid another layer of bad taste in consumers minds.
I really enjoy Pichon Lalande’s style/craft. The 06 is good, not great. In fact, I enjoyed this better w/o the lamb.
The fruits are just ripe. Velvety, rounded M+ tannins. Brambly blackberries, dryish black plum, black cherries, black raspberries, strawberries, some raspberry hues, oak barrel shavings, graphite, dry soils, dry tobacco & leather, dry clay, soft but dark spice, some dry herbs, soft baking spices- clove, nutmeg, cinnamon & vanillin, light milk chocolate, caramel hues, black tea, anise, some mid berry cola, dry & withering, dark & red flowers, violets, decent, round acidity, balanced, neatly structured/tensioned with an elegant finish that lasts just over 90 seconds and falls on dry earth and soft, dark spice.
Still acceding and has 15 plus yrs of good drinking ahead. Could make a case for rounding up to 93.
Paired w/ Grilled Rack of Lamb, Served with Rosemary Jus, Fondant Potatoes and Steamed Broccoli.

This is a delicious Sauvignon Blanc from Pessac-Léognan. Crisp and refreshing with nice weight and complexity.
Nose is gentle and elegant. The palate is crisp, dry and rich.
Showing citrus, lemons, spices, light wood, green apples, grapefruits and minerals.
Nice length on the finish with limes and minerals.
A Good quality wine. Definitely my favorite white Bordeaux so far.
This 5 year old is drinking very nicely now, and will continue to evolve in the next 5 years.
Needs 30 minutes to open up properly and show more complexity.

A blend of 90% Sauvignon Blanc, 5% Sémillon and 5% Sauvignon Gris.

1988 vintage. Feminine-styled. Ran into some resistance back in the day with the (re-) emergence of this Château and the massive 85/86 and 89/90 efforts. Eff all that. The 1989 AND 1990 vintages probs the best this Château has ever realized. The 1988 slid in then and performed delicate magick. That cocoa powder and blueberry combo still coming forth with undeniable impressions. Whereas those four “bigger” vintages rocked harder, all four have had more noticeable drop off. This 1988 just doing its best La Mission Haut-Brion/Haut-Brion impression and pulling it off. No rush to crush. 5.13.26. — a month ago
