Tasted blind. Reddish tawny color. Edges suggest its old. Notes of strawberry, raspberry, iron, roses. Some zing and power in the nose. Slaps your face when tasted. Sappy. Powerful impact. Long finish. Other guesses were in Burgundy land eg Griotte but I went with 90 Rayas. Bingo.

Ripe red fruit jumping out of the glass with an array of light herbs and finished with a bright and silky finish. Such a gorgeous wine that I will never forget!

Wine of the flight at learnaboutwine's (now wineLA) Top Wines tasting - House of Blues. Color: Grenache/brick NOSE: Amazing bouquet of tomato paste, olive tapenade, herb, stone, ((did not need to taste to love)) MOUTH: textured, refined, fresh, amazingly balanced and reminiscent of the legendary 1985 with perhaps a nudge of newer wood. Score 98 points (N2self - one of my greatest bottles this year)

Wow! Perfect btl from the Palais Coburg’s cellar. Still very youthful that gained weight with air showing dark cherry, strawberry, kirsch, blood orange, rose petal, licorice, white pepper, mineral & earth. Rayas Heaven!!!

One of the occupational hazards of this great wine hobby of ours is Fraudulent wines. Unfortunately, we happened upon one at our social distance wine gathering BBQ on my friends porch last night. It was the strong unanimous opinion of the group that this was not Rayas and not even a cleaver knock-off. There was none of that beautiful Rayas translucency in the color and there was even some hints of Syrah in this fake. Caveat Emptor my friends.
