Rose petal, dried raspberry and strawberry nose, persimmon remnants, bing cherry, roobios and black teas. Cranberry-apple afterthoughts. Bright and young with juicy attitude. Cranberry and tart cherry entry, rose, tar and smoky jerky. Plums and sage with grape leaf. Waiting for full opening.

A little disappointed with this one, seemed a little disjointed, maybe just in an odd phase right now.

2009 vintage. At Robata restaurant in Tokyo with Gerard Basset MW. Medium ruby hue. Sitting low in the glass - quite reticent at first. Black fruit profile, some leather and Earth. On the palate, very acidic at first, although softened with time. Tannins are chunky. Lacks complexity of a top wine from this excellent vintage. Medium body and alcohol. Short on the finish. Disappointing. Could be in a dumb phase. Don't open until 2021.
