Black mushrooms and plums add smoky earth to black currant and cassis, violets and pepper nose. Graphite, tobacco and shredded cedar push the cassis and dried black currant to a surface of black olives through a silky, floral-punctuated finish.

Sipping Fine Wine

Blend of 54% Cab Sauv, 34% Merlot & 12% Cab Franc. Deep Ruby with aromas of dark fruits, sweet spice, floral and herb notes. On the palate flavors of ripe blackberry, blueberry and plum with notes of cacao, cedar and herb spice. Well balanced with acidity, fine tannins, long finish ending with fruit, cedar and earthy mineral character. Nice! Drink now!

This is a wonderful Cabernet Sauvignon based Bordeaux from St Julian. Rich and dense with lots of complexity. Chewy and opulent.

Full bodied and bold with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with a nice mouthfeel.

Showing black fruits with earth, oak, spices, black tea, peppercorn, dark coffee, pencil lead, earth, licorice, tobacco leaf and chocolates.

This 2009 vintage is drinking very nicely now, and will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years.

Needs a couple of hours to open up properly, and show the structure and complexity.

Robert Parker 91 points.

Good by itself, but will pair wonderfully with a nice piece of steak. I paired it with a Charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.

13% alcohol by volume

A blend of 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot and 12% Cabernet Franc.

2009 vintage. 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot and 12% Cabernet Franc. 60% new oak. A little shy in the beginning, but opens up beautifully in the glass after 30 minutes. Classic old school Saint-Julien. Nose keeps growing in the glass with blackcurrant, cedar and wild flowers with a hint of Pauillac-like lead pencil. Impeccably balanced with layers of fruit, amazing freshness and moderate alcohol (abv. 13%). Very attractive now, but I suspect this will become even better with further ageing and will last for decades. Lovely.

2009 is warm and inviting, with leather and clove, cinnamon and coriander. Wheat bread browned darkly. Black cherry, muddy puddle, blackberry, black currant, mocha. Round and supple on the palate with velvety tannins, black and ripe red cherry, tart raspberry and black olive meeting black pepper. Solidly built, boasting muscle beneath the flowing subtleties. Amazing wine!

Rich, complex, expressive but still have much tension and needs time to mature - a bit to much power for now - a great vintage - the 2012 was more ready to drink

2009 vintage. Big fill. Excellent cork. Low sed. Decanted and tasted after 20 mins, 1 hour and 2 hours. Excellent color. Light-medium body. Not quite as feminine as Leoville-Barton but not far behind. Softer with a small accent of black olive and newly dampened earth. Holding up well. Not a candidate to go hard for another 10-spot but look to crush in the next 5-6 years before it starts dropping off precipitously. 8.7.24.

The 2009 is amazing.

No decanting, just opened up an hour or so before dinner.

Stunning Bordeaux. Fabulous fruit and character. If we have another bottle of this vintage, we'll try to push it back a few more years.

Trump ought to be shot as a traitor. People who vote for Trump in 2024 ought to be slapped, hard.

Sorry, that's me speaking, not the wine. 🙂

Tasted the 2003, 2009, and 2016. 2003 and 2009 in the drinkable sweet spot with the 2009 in front.

Blind tasting lunch 2009 theme. Called right bank, totally missed as it had a more Merlot like nose and some blackberries and some violets. Still powerful with grippy tannins, but overall good balance, just a slightly rustic finish.
