Well a few days back I tasted 2010 Ballycroft Small Berry American Oak Shiraz, so tonite was the French Oak test. Clearly as with the American Oak the wine has fantastic balance the fruit is there but it is not the main attraction. I have to admit it is not as approachable as the American but loads of potential. Lately all that is on my mind is Grenache. And tonite once again a little stunner again from southern vales, 2013 Lost Buoy Cliff Block Grenache. Subtle fruit spicy mid palate, and very vibrant with hints of sea spray amongst the flavors. At 13.5% alcohol easily handled a simple grilled pork loin with a rocket and pear salad.
