Aux Chaignots Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Pinot Noir

2002 Burgundy! My favorite vintage if I had to pick one.

All that I adore in a great Red
#Burgundy #pinotnoir
Deep Burgundy red in color, the nose is elegantly dense, with a sous bois, savory braised beef, wet earth, bing cherries, all pulsating with energy and life, with just a hint of tertiary. The palate shows it's one flaw, the chewy and slightly gritty tannin. Otherwise the acidity and flavors are on point, the length and energy are classic+.

Les Cazetiers Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2000

Not bad for an off year, although finish is clipped. Animale, soil tones, game bird. Acidity and tannins in check. No rush to consume. #gevreychambertin #gevrey #faiveley — 10 years ago

Clos de Bèze Chambertin Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes Pinot Noir 2009

Label says Chambertin Clos de Beze "Viellies Vignes" 2009. Actually, this was the experimentation barrel of Chambertin Clos de Beze "Les Ouvrees Rodin". Only 1 barrel(Taransaud) was produced in 2009 and was not released, or at least not in the USA. The first commercial release of "Les Ouvrees Rodin" was 2010. — 8 years ago

Have you had the opportunity to taste the CdB VV bottling and if so how do they compare to one another?

Ira, I have never tasted "Les Ouvrees Rodin", which, again, was officially/commercially released with the 2010 vintage. This 2009 labeled as "Viellies Vignes" was essentially a barrel made for the family as an experiment. Faiveley has not/does not produce a Chambertin Clos de Beze labeled as "Viellies Vignes" otherwise except that old vines is essentially the composition of the "Les Ouvrees Rodin". California only receives a handful of 6-packs per vintage. I was advised 4-6 barrels are now produced per vintage depending on size of harvest.
Here John Tilson states wine originates from 1 plot of 60+ year old vines via this link below:
