Rich palate with firm tannin shows oolong, strong graphite core, nutmeg, fine Connecticut tobacco, pepper, dill, and a touch of anise. Bold for its age, and vibrant. Fruits emerge on a long finish; dusty cherry and cocoa, dried black currant, powdered blackberry and cassis.

2005. Portobello, loamy soil, blackberry, black cherry, violets, oyster shell, black peppercorn, grilled beef on the nose. Black and red currant, slight grapiness, cedar bark, pencil, black olive, wheat toast, fine tabac, clove, red cherry. Pointy in places, but really holding together in terms of age.

Another 2005. Magnum kept the oxygen in check, but reveals it still quite young. Magnolia in a warm breeze. Cherry blossom. Pine, chainsaw heated. Coffee rye. Violets, both fresh and dry, on this floral led bouquet. Rich blackberry in a medium-verging-heavy mouthfeel rich black currant, ripe cassis, sloes, rosemary, sweet mocha tobacco, black cherry and smoke. Relentlessly rich.
