Spring Date Ideas

The spring months are slowly coming to an end. Before we fully embrace the summer heat, take the opportunity to go on a spring date! From picnics to scenic strolls, we’ve gathered a list of spring date ideas that will make you forget all about the annoying allergies that come with spring. Cheers! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ PICNIC UNDER THE STARS The bubbles in your glass will match the sparkling stars in the sky on this romantic spring date. Bring a basket full of hors d'oeuvres, a comfortable blanket, and a bottle of Champagne . It will be as if your love was written in the stars. A GARDEN NIGHT Does your home look like it still has the winter blues? You can welcome spring and improve the vibes with a garden night! If you have a yard or window boxes, take that trip to the nursery, grab some dirt and any plants you want to look at/take care of every day. If you are somewhere with limited outdoor/garden access, arrange a flower bouquet with your date! Head to the store or the florist, grab a few flowers you love and arrange them into a bouquet yourself. Pick up a bottle of Sekt while you’re at it! A ROMANTIC ROWBOAT RIDE Ariel and Prince Eric had the right idea: a romantic evening wading in a rowboat around a beautiful blue lagoon. While it ultimately ended in capsizing for them, your date will be successful if you keep the boat afloat and have a bottle of Sweet Riesling to share. SPRING CABIN GETAWAY What better way to embrace the fresh season than by connecting with nature. Whisk your date away for a romantic weekend of relaxation in a beautiful woodland cabin. Pack movies, games, and a bottle of Red Bordeaux to round out this spring getaway. BOTANICAL GARDEN VISIT We can’t write a post about spring without a flower reference. Embrace the blooming flora by taking your date to a botanical garden! Literally stop and smell the roses. After getting in touch with your green thumb, you can enjoy a nice glass of fruity Chardonnay . SEE A DRIVE IN MOVIE Grab your popcorn, your favorite candy of choice, and a nice glass of Oregon Pinot Noir . From a heart stopping thriller to a cheesy romantic comedy, this wine will pair well with any movie genre. TAKE A WALK ON THE BEACH Walk hand in hand along the sandy beach. Maybe you’re walking into the sunset or you're busy collecting seashells. Whatever the case, grab a glass of Provence Rosé to sip on while listening to the sound of waves crashing against the shore. PAINT AND SIP This is a date you can DIY or find a local shop that hosts paint and sip nights! If you DIY, then you can grab all your supplies and paint and sip in the park. Or if you go somewhere that offers supplies and instructions, maybe you’ll leave the newest upcoming artist! Instead of grabbing a specific type of wine, you should grab a wine with an artistic label that calls to you! An artistic label can provide some inspiration for your date night. GO HIKING/CAMPING This one is for our active, outdoorsy friends. Do you and your partner love to take long walks uphill that end with spectacular views of the mountains or maybe a waterfall? (We don’t know what hiking trails you have available to you!) Then a nice hike paired with sleeping under the stars is the date for you. Pack a Sauvignon Blanc in your backpack for a post-hike treat! VISIT A VINEYARD Whether you travel to a new vineyard or stick to a local winery, nothing can beat a tasting overlooking a beautiful vineyard. A romantic date paired with your wines of choice!

Château Lynch-Bages

Grand Cru Classé Pauillac Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2003

2003 vintage. Cedar and cinnamon lead into coffee rye and toasted black sesame, baked blackberry and plums, baked black currant and elderberry. Tertiary leather and pipe tobacco, with a jammy cassis to licorice finality. Silky smooth palate exhibits dark berries and a touch of smoke and graphite swirling around charred oak and cinnamon.

Vincent Dauvissat

Les Clos Chablis Grand Cru Chardonnay 2013

This vintage is drinking so well right now while you wait for 12 and 14. After a multi hour decant Dauvissat’s 2013 Clos radiates with power and intensity showing tremendous volume, textural weight and layers of oyster shell minerality, racy lemony acids and a massively long, vibrant, saline finish. Still many years to go on this one. — 10 months ago

Cristom

Mt. Jefferson Cuvée Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2021

Quite young but totally ready to drink. Beautiful aromas of wild berries, violets and wet potting soil. The palate is full of red berry fruit with notes of mushroom, Earl Grey tea, fresh basil, mint and sweet spices. A note of “steaminess” (whole cluster?) and a beautiful touch of mineral on the finish. Lovely balance and perfect acidity. Light bodied, silky tannins and so fresh tasting. Great effort! — 10 months ago

Bright fruity nose, cherry and mango? Light acid, what's not to love? — 9 months ago

Brut Réserve Champagne Blend

9.2

Haven’t sipped this in quite awhile. 375ml to refresh my palate memory.

40% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay and 20% Meunier. Varietals fermented separately in stainless steel vats. 5 to 10% of wine is vinified in old Burgundy oak barrels.

Texture is round and elegant. The fruits are; both peach, mango, apricots, slightly oxidative white citrus-lime hovers the edges & pineapple juice. Nougat, marzipan, toasted nuts, brioche, saline, crushed chalk, white spice that presses into the palate, notes of cheese cloth, limestone marl, moist, pulpy, grey volcanic minerals, yellow lilies with spring white flowers, jasmine blooms, round, soft acidy and a well; balanced, structured & tensioned finish that lands squarely on mid minerality and lasts 90 seconds.

A mature 23 yr old with a cedar and cigar box nose. Silky smooth mouthfeel with well integrated tannins and a lingering warm finish. Perfect with our Valentines Day prime rib and chocolate dessert. — 10 months ago

Château d'Yquem

Sauternes Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend 2005

What a special treat!!! So enthralled by the moment that I forgot to take a photo with the dessert last night. 😜 This wine was stunning! Layered, complex, balanced. Pronounced and concentrated notes of dried apricot, peach preserves, marmalade, orange zest, Meyer lemon peel, citrus blossom, gardenia, cinnamon, cardamom, saffron, lavender honey, and beeswax. It coated the palate with a lasting finish. Again, such an absolute treat!! — 9 months ago

Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spätlese Riesling 2010

Sweet. Very pretty and rich. Lifted and lush with sweet lemon and a hint of honey. A bit dense still- when they aged these have great fruit backing them up — 10 months ago

Sekt Brut Riesling 2018

Love this crisp bouquet, a cold night, still. The stars pristine sharp dots draping the sky. Mineral driven. Apples.

Bracing. Sharp. Energetic acidity with legs, carrying a savory quality through the mid.

Zip and chew. Something to sip and think.
