Bought in Colmar, Elsass. This was the best Gewuerz I ever had in the last 20 years. Super tropical and complex but also high acidity and some tartness. Unlike other vintages very little residual sugar left per analysis of the winery. This was so good that I am considering to go back next year and visit the winery - I ran out of time this time. Amber colour.
Not as massive and sweet as expected when considering the cepage and designation. Lychees and rose-petals, dash of oriental spice, mint and pepper, medium-bodied, surprisingly elegant, maybe the finish is a tad on the short side. Lovely next to some Etivaz, old Cantal and Achelse Blauwe. — 9 years ago
