Whoa…I drank my last ‘03 Jade Mountain “Paras” Syrah almost 10 years ago. It was really good back then

OMGee, haven't seen this producer/stuff in easily two decades. Remembering it having big grip and body.

So THAT’S why I haven’t heard about these guys recently. Used to enjoy their wines.

Wildfire

Escondido Valley Zinfandel 2014

Spicy! With bright berries & great structure. Long finish. Really enjoyed this Zin that's as bold as Texas! — 9 years ago

Antica Terra

Aequorin Chardonnay 2020

Mary H
9.1

Antica Terra Collective Tasting. Only chardonnay made in 2020, picked before the wildfire smoke rekt pinot that year. A funky, savory, unique chardonnay. Musk melon, dank oak, charcuterie, plummy stone fruit. Maruchan chicken soup base and no one can tell me otherwise!! — a year ago

Frankland Estate

Isolation Ridge Vineyard Riesling 2014

Andrew Holod
9.3

Pale yellow. Flinty, firm, 'mineral' citrus oil, petrol. Bracing acid, slightly bitter/phenolic, feels very fresh for a 6 year old wine.
Paired w Singapore spiced Mahi Mahi.
If you don't know these dry Riesling wines from Australia 🇦🇺 now is a good time to buy and support them through their crazy wildfire season.

@Andrew Holod Agree with your sentiments about how young this tastes. Also thanks re the bushfires. Still going in the Snowy Mountains District.

Of course, there are also plenty of fine Riesling producers in Eden and Clare valleys, which I believe, have seen more damage from fires.

Freemark Abbey

Bosché Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 1986

Yes. Please. Still has nice fruit. Match stick. Campfire/wildfire nose. Still very delicious. Very nice treat. Thank you! — 10 years ago

Day Wines

Lemonade Pinot Noir Rosé 2020

Nose has ripe cherry, ruby red grapefruit and orange zest.

Palate has fresh cherry, tangerine with some sandy minerality, decent finish, drinking way too easy...

Cool story behind this wine, look it up, essentially being dealt a questionable hand in 2020 (wildfire smoke) the ladies got creative when life gave them lemons, so to speak.

@Severn Goodwin Interesting! I go for the unusual!

Owen Roe

Rosa Mystica Cabernet Franc 2016

Summer wildfire smoke, big bold stone fruit, tobacco and a hint of acid from something we couldn’t pinpoint. SO AMAZING. Owen doesn’t mess around with this vintage. — 6 years ago

Stone Brewing Co.

Ripper San Diego Pale Ale

Citrus aromas and flavors, juicy, crisp and oh so very refreshing. On point balance between the hops on the front of the stage to the malts in the background. The finish is just perfect in this summer heat and wildfire weather. My new favorite session ale. 5.7% ABV. — 7 years ago
