Stone Brewing Co.

Xocoveza Imperial Stout 2018

I don’t usually post beer but this is practically a wine in terms of its composition. I was fearing sweetness but this is just warm spicy goodness. Apparently quite hard to find on the east coast outside of Stone’s new Richmond brewing facility, so I’m grateful to the Virginian who brought it north. — 2 months ago

Citrine California Chardonnay 2019

Tasty, light, fresh Cali chard. East drinking, Chablisien precision. Pineapple and minerals.

This gained volume over a week in the fridge and every sip was enjoyed.

Château Reverdi

Cru Bourgeois Listrac-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

The Château Reverdi 2016 is comprised of 60% Merlot, 30% Petit Verdot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon aged for 12 months in small French oak barrels, 10% of which are new. First, use a good large glass. This is a classic Listrac-Médoc in a very great vintage, and it needs room to stretch out. Complex, exotic aromas unfurl gradually, and then erupt from the glass, with sun warmed wild blackberries, ripe cassis, griotte cherries, and eucalyptus moving in and out of the foreground, adding Perigord truffles, crushed violets, and freshly sanded cedar, as the nose evolves in the glass. On entry, the wine is concentrated, structured, and palate coating, with a solid core of wild blackberries, fresh fennel, and sweet black currants that echoes the nose —the Petit Verdot showing through with its muscular, fresh raciness, and the flavors are wrapped in plush, luxuriant, fine grained tannins. Drink now, for its incredible primary black fruit, or lay away in a cool dark cellar for at least a decade.— Moore Brothers Wine Co., Brooklyn — a year ago

Heron Lake Vineyard Chardonnay 2018

Doesn’t bowl you over with concentration but Enfield is all about subtlety and balance. Green apple, pear, slightly bitter lemon finish, not a whiff of butter or vanilla or toast in sight — 7 months ago

Palmer & Co

Brut Reserve Champagne Blend

Palm frond, light olive essence, smoky-sweet petrol resonance over poppyseed pastry, rhubarb-wild strawberry cream, lemon custard, and palmyra. Lemon lime zippy while racing across the tongue, with grapefruit zest, lime zest and raspberry sizzle. Gorgeous and lean. Two palms up! #palmerandco #palmerandcochampagne #champagne #bubbles #Reims #àreims #brutchampagne #brutreserve — a year ago

Amorici Field Blend

9.1

The label says it’s a rose. I think it’s actually a co-fermented field blend of white and red varietals. Drinks like a light red. Good chilled. Has a light spritz and a light, cider-like funk to it. Relatively light in alcohol. Almost reminds me of a piquette. — 4 months ago

Old Vine Zinfandel

Classic California Zin from one of the top producers of this grape varietal. Notes of black pepper, ripe blue and black fruits (wild blueberry, blackberry) and plum skin. On the riper, jammier side of the scale, but it was well balanced with a freshness on the palette that kept me coming back for more. Delicious wine. — 6 months ago

Badet Clément & Co.

Pontificis Grenache Blend 2018

Color of burgundy with a bit gray tone on the rim. Nose of dried strawberry, fresh grapes, a bit spice, wet berries and, a touch of wild mushroom, and more raspberry note. Taste is light with Pinot noir flavors, a bit coke cola, zesty citrus, dried strawberry, almost no tannins, and a bit spice and sweetness. Aftertaste of some more bitter grapefruit note. Clean and on par. — a year ago
