Vigneti A Prua

Alois Lageder

Dolomiti Schiava 2023

This wine pours up in a medium-dark ruby color, with some rosy lavender hints around the rim. The nose hit me as almost unpleasantly funky. And I like funk. There is an extremely earthy quality to the smell, almost burying the dark fruit. The mouthfeel is a bit thin, and the palate shows flavors of plum, black currant and blackberry. Notes of cola become more noticeable on the finish, putting me in mind of a Pinot Noir. It is a clean, fresh sip, with no oak to get in the way. The tannins are tame, so pairing with chicken is probably a better idea than beef. — 12 days ago

Vigneti Massa

Monleale Colli Tortonesi Barbera 2015

Peppery plum is really shining through on this one. Red licorice and dried spice accents. Tannic grape skin gives it some grip. Long raisin finish. Like the Sun-Maid boxes I ate as a kid. A little sweet for me, but still good quality. Also added some to the passata I’m making from heirloom tomatoes, and it’s quite nice. — 3 months ago

PnP. Dark red color. Cherries, stewed red fruit, and a little alcohol on the nose. Refined on the palate with dark fruit. Lovely texture and well balanced. Sticks to the palate with a complex finish. Very happy. — 6 months ago

Granato Teroldego

Nice flowery and fruity nose. I think I will keep my other bottles a few more years to see if and how it can develop further.
The acidity is at a nice very old balsamic level.

Tenuta San Leonardo

Terre di San Leonardo Vigneti delle Dolomiti Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2018

Terre di San Leonardo is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (50%), Merlot (40%), and Carmenere (10%), run by the Gonzaga family since its inception in 1724. Wine is fermented with ambient yeasts in concrete tanks and 20% is aged in French oak barrels. Ruby with aromas ripe red fruits and floral notes. On the palate flavors of rich plum and blackberry with herb, light spice and slight earthy notes. Medium+ finish, fine soft tannins, ending with fruit, floral and earthy mineral character. Tremendous value! — 6 months ago

Hard to describe though my first impression was of dusty flowers. Still vibrant with a decent finish. — 23 days ago

Nice cranberry / strawberry fruit, could have used a bit more freshness. This estate has never really captivated me for whatever reason — 2 months ago

Fontanasanta Vigneti delle Dolomiti Manzoni Bianco 2023

Deep yellow in color. Honey, beeswax, lanolin, with a touch of effervescence on open. No sharp edges. Not exactly my style wine but well made and can imagine this aging gracefully — 4 months ago
