v20. This is very good! Soft, dusty , dried herb nose. Fresh, currant and raspberry fruit. Long, tight, velvety, slightly astringent, soft herbal and leather finish. Nicely balanced, good food wine. — 7 months ago
Very subtle. Opens nicely. Will buy again. 2019. — 4 years ago
This is the 2019 Domaines Barons de Rothschild-Lafite Los Vascos Cromas Carménère Gran Reserva. From Valle de Colchagua, Chile.
The nose has notes of cherry, strawberry, unripe plum, spice, herbaceous notes, vanilla, green bell pepper and a granite minerality.
On the palate is sour cherry, raspberry, roasted red pepper, herbaceous, green peppercorn, and a granite minerality.
This wine is medium to full body and is very green with vibrant medium + acidity and medium + to high grainy tannins which leaves you with a long herbaceous sour red fruit gravelly finish. It is really hard with this one to get past the green notes of this wine. All the structure is there but either you decant for a long time or let it age for many years. Have a wonderful weekend and please stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷 — 4 years ago
Splash decanted just prior to service. The 2020 pours a deep ruby/purple color with a near opaque core; medium+ viscosity, with significant staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with powerful notes of dark bramble berries, blueberries, purple flowers, bacon fat, black pepper, olive, dried green herbs, and fine baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. This was fabulous with hangar steak. Very grassy and somewhat floral nose, not sure the flower, maybe even a little pine needle or green, hard fruit. The palate is very light surprisingly, with equally vegetal and grassy notes throughout, with a dry finish, slight minerality but very fresh. Almost hints of sour green apple candy in there but def not the sweetness, with a nicely integrated acidity. This is definitely not a typical sav blanc, and any New Zealand or Aussie lover will balk probably, but I honestly prefer this. — 3 years ago
Dry left bank Bordeaux style blend from Chile. Dry, and tannic. Not very green at all. One of my faves — 4 years ago
