My last bottle of the 15 vintage CDM rouge I had stored in my kitchen refrigerator. The strong reductive elements and aromas have pretty much blown off and this was showing very well. Smooth, silky with some medicinal cherry and forest floor/green moss. I think this is probably one of my favorite CDB rouge wines still to this day & I believe this year or last year was the 150th anniversary of the Mouches cru/vineyard. And a special congratulations to my friend Veronique who made this wine & just received the highest honor in France. Pretty cool! — 3 years ago

Haut-Bailly Dinner in SF with Veronique Sanders of Haut-Bailly.
The 2010 is an excellent vintage but, it is for the later part of your life or your children.
This is drinking beautifully with a 4 hour decant. The structure & tension are just starting to their softening stage. The length and balance are in the forget about it range and will just get better & better. Ripe, stunning fruits of; blackberries, dark cherries, black raspberries, plum & a touch of blue fruits. Moist clay & top soils, stones, mint, graphite, fresh tobacco, dark cola, anise to black licorice with stunning, withering floral bouquet. Acidity is perfect. The finish is everything you want in a Bordeaux.
Definitely a 99-100 point wine in 15 years plus.
Served with the Cheese Plate; Red Hawk, Hop Along & Roquefort. @Mathilde French Bistro

Established in 1987, DD Oregon is owned by famed Burgundy producer, Maison Joseph Drouhin. Hand-crafted by fourth generation winemaker, Veronique Drouhin-Boss. Ruby with fruit and sweet floral scents, very French in style. On the palate cherry and blueberry with pepper and earthy notes. Young but integrated tannins, well defined, elegant with underlying richness, long finish.

Dinner at Borgia in Geneva with Veronique. — 10 years ago
Fantastic Riesling from their oldest vines in the Frohnenberg lieu-dit in Herrlisheim (south of Eguisheim). Loamy-limestone terroir. Farmed biodynamically. Lively, vibrant. Aromas of white fruit, candied lemon, grass, mineral. Great texture. Good length. Excellent value — 3 years ago
1. BF that knows wine: This wine. Is like having to listen to the cold hard truth. Kinda dry. Kinda bitter. But you appreciate it.
2. Friend that took UC Davis Coursera wine Class (and also knows a decent Amt): on the nose - it reminds me of earl grey tea. Herbaceous but not entirely herbaceous. It needs to breathe a bit. On the palette - in the beginning, it’s so flavorful I want to say full body, but it’s not. It’s perky - but not crispy. Between stone fruit and dark fruit - it’s a red fruit. A little bit - but not too much fruitiness. It’s great and I’d drink again!
3. Me: Juicy! Excellent wine to drink in a NYC outdoor hut seating with friends. Pairs well with Astrology talk. — 4 years ago
Enjoyed with Rafael, Veronique & Phil in my backyard in Menlo Park. Very special & very French! Loved it! — 6 years ago
Tightly wound and in need of additional age. Dark red in color. Raspberry, blackberry and earth. Solid acid spine. Tannins need further tempering. Built to last and scored with a eye to the future. A very small production (174 cases) partnership of Veronique Drouhin and Isabelle Dutartre. — 6 years ago
The 2012 ‘Laurene’ Pinot Noir by the talented Veronique Drouhin is a stunning effort at now seven years of age. Very pretty red rose petals aromas connect with shades of peat moss, white truffle shavings and black fruits, with smoky undertones that round out this fantastic nose. The palate has an incredible combination of freshness and richness, with gobs of minerality. The balance imparted is gorgeous, as vibrant minerals collide with ripe red cherry, guava, teaberry and cran-pomegranate flavors. While a delight to enjoy now, this is only starting to come of age. Drink 2019-2038- 95 — 7 years ago

PINOTNOIR-TASTING#5
Tuiled dress, expressive nose. Slightly oxidized, nuts. evolved character, mushrooms, strawberry and spice notes. Fine and airy mouth of a beautiful intensity. Advanced notes and declining freshness suggest that this wine is at the end of its peak. A beautiful jewel to drink now.
— 3 years ago

Riesling from the Frohnenberg lieu dit, in Herrlisheim (south of Eguisheim). Vines are 50+ years old and rooted in limestone soils. Farmed biodynamically. Citrus and some herbal notes. Very dry, fresh, vibrant, quite elegant. Amazing value.
