Joseph Drouhin
Clos des Mouches Beaune 1er Cru Pinot Noir
My last bottle of the 15 vintage CDM rouge I had stored in my kitchen refrigerator. The strong reductive elements and aromas have pretty much blown off and this was showing very well. Smooth, silky with some medicinal cherry and forest floor/green moss. I think this is probably one of my favorite CDB rouge wines still to this day & I believe this year or last year was the 150th anniversary of the Mouches cru/vineyard. And a special congratulations to my friend Veronique who made this wine & just received the highest honor in France. Pretty cool!

Jan 16th, 2023This bottle is money. Silky smooth. Very well balanced wine. Every bottle from this case I bought tastes different. This one tastes like Oregon Pinot and doesn’t have all the weird rubbery aromatics. Goes great with Tango & Cash. 😂 7/24/20

Jul 25th, 2020Third time I’ve tasted the 15 Mouches rouge from Drouhin. The reduction was present in every experience but this bottle is wack and almost undrinkable. It would be nice if these Côte de Beaune rouge wines were back in the $30-$40 price point where they belong. It’s hard to get an accurate assessment of the wine because it’s so heavily reduced. I was also hoping for a bit more ripeness here in the 2015 vintage. This is vegetal, tart and very dry. I’d also like to add that the reductive elements of this cuvée didn’t bother me in 2005, 2009 or 2010 vintages. Tasted 4/13/20
