Intense savoury cherry. See previous Delectable note. Vacqueyras - 2nd only to Gigondas for Côtes du Rhône villages. This wine was 70% Grenache (over 60 years old), 15% Syrah (40 years old) and 15% Mourvèdre (40 years old). Tends to be slightly more rustic than Gigondas although this was very satisfying and good QPR. Alcohol a bit high at 14.5%. — 3 months ago
Get the licorice right off the top and then that fades quick..then. Blackberries and some other dark fruit..great long subtle finish..licorice comes back with subtle spice..great medium to full body..nothing complicated going on but great value at this price — 7 months ago
Bought on release and stored at 55 degrees in my cellar since. Old world style, spicy, earthy and true to its name …garrique! Could have easily passed for a well made CNDP. WOW 20 year old Vacqueyras who would have guessed. — 5 months ago
Nice smooth wine from an underrated area. Paired nicely with chicken tonight. Wish we bought more when we were staying in the zone. — 8 months ago
The first time I had a Vacqueyras. We had it with a dinner of lamb chops and miniature potatoes. It is pleasantly tart, a little dry. Notes of dark cherry, tobacco. — 2 months ago
Once upon a time, one could argue that Vacqueras was a poor man’s CNP. But at this point CNP may be the fool’s Vacqueras. A little menthol on the nose. Lots of dark fruit, leather, crushed stones, maraschino cherries and a hint of leather on the palate. Rustic and sublime at the same time. Great wine for fall and colder weather. — 2 months ago
Tasting it in Avignon so that added some points. It was a bit warm but I loved it. So spicy. — 6 months ago
