Intense savoury cherry. See previous Delectable note. Vacqueyras - 2nd only to Gigondas for Côtes du Rhône villages. This wine was 70% Grenache (over 60 years old), 15% Syrah (40 years old) and 15% Mourvèdre (40 years old). Tends to be slightly more rustic than Gigondas although this was very satisfying and good QPR. Alcohol a bit high at 14.5%. — 5 months ago
The description: Elegant, well rounded and medium bodied style. Aromatic persistence in the mouth and soft, silky tannins ripening slowly.
The opinion: Needs a few more years to deepen its flavour — 2 months ago
The first time I had a Vacqueyras. We had it with a dinner of lamb chops and miniature potatoes. It is pleasantly tart, a little dry. Notes of dark cherry, tobacco. — 3 months ago
Tasting it in Avignon so that added some points. It was a bit warm but I loved it. So spicy. — 8 months ago
Deep purple color.
Aromas of cassis, cocoa, peppercorn.
Dry. Flavors of cassis, cocoa, raspberry candy, cinnamon, licorice. Medium-rich, velvety tannins.

Once upon a time, one could argue that Vacqueras was a poor man’s CNP. But at this point CNP may be the fool’s Vacqueras. A little menthol on the nose. Lots of dark fruit, leather, crushed stones, maraschino cherries and a hint of leather on the palate. Rustic and sublime at the same time. Great wine for fall and colder weather. — 4 months ago
Bought on release and stored at 55 degrees in my cellar since. Old world style, spicy, earthy and true to its name …garrique! Could have easily passed for a well made CNDP. WOW 20 year old Vacqueyras who would have guessed. — 6 months ago

Drank with bacon wrapped grilled ducks and Josh M’s spicy sausage risotto. Really good pairing. Great wine. — a month ago
