Iodine, earth, dirt, tannic. A big wine will easily hold up to steak or game. Orange peel, touch dark ripe cherries, spices (touch cinnamon), black tea leaves. Full of character and terroir driven. From South Africa. Decomposed Granite and volcanic rock. 13.5%. — 4 months ago

Probably still a little young, but otherwise a really great bottle. Dark transparent ruby, with a woody-er edge to it. Some cherry pie, herbs, baking spices and tar aromas. Strong structure, making it feel young. Pretty large body for an Oregon Pinot! Going to age well for awhile. — 20 days ago

Fall is here and it’s the season I love to drink port. Dow, producing Ports for over 2 centuries. One of the first to establish its own vineyards, acquiring Senhora da Ribeira, in the remote Upper Douro, in 1890 & Bomfim, in the heart of Alto Douro, in 1896. Aromas of ripe fruits, fragrant spices and sweet notes. On the palate flavors of candied apple and jammy blackberries with cacao and honey. Firm dusty tannins, good balance, long finish. Perfect now.
