A lovey little French Chenin with a light body, slightly off dry and some zippy acidity. Lemons, chamomile and a hint of honey on the nose transition nicely into a palate of yellow apple, lemon peel and a touch of cream. Enthusiastic finish. Beautifully done. — 7 years ago
Really solid and wonderfully stereotypical Touraine. Honeysuckle and banana, a bit of citric on the nose too. Quite clean but with a bit of a chalky/crushed stone element that adds structure to the tropical flavors you’d expect. — 2 years ago
From one of the most prized vineyards in Bourgueil, with soil similar to Clos Rougeard's famed Le Bourg vineyard: clay over tuffeau limestone. This elegant Cabernet Franc has the bearing of a Saint-Émilion, for which it might be mistaken. Deep purple-red in color. Seductive and silky, the complex nose is full of blackberry, white pepper, leather, chocolate and wet clay. Graceful and balanced on the palate and brightly juicy, with supple tannins and a cool mineral finish that goes on and on. (Jason Wilson, Vinous, July 2020)

God this is a yummy wine. Great daily Vouvray for the price. — 8 years ago
A surprising Chenin Blanc from Chinon’s tuffeau soils, the result of long, long fermentation (12 months) in 500-liter barrel. On the nose, wet earth, citrus blossom and honeysuckle, then full-bodied with lots of peach, clementine and even mango flavors, a salty core, and a dry, stony finish. This wine is the 2021 Clau de Nell Chenin Blanc Anjou AOC, made from hand-harvested, low-yielding and biodynamically-farmed Chenin Blanc (yielding only 40 hL/ha) that was gently pressed and underwent a wild yeast fermentation in used Burgundian oak barrels. 🪵
After fermentation, this wine spent 6 months in stainless steel, before it rested for 12 months in used Burgundian oak, deep in the estate’s limestone cellars carved out of the famous tuffeau subsoils of Anjou.
The result is a 👁️ medium gold wine with 👃🏻 pronounced and concentrated aromas and flavors of ripe yellow apple, pear, quince, orange pith, chamomile, acacia, fennel, wet slate, cream, walnut, and honey. The 👄 palate is rich and mouth-coating, balanced by brightness and lift thanks to its high acidity and medium alcohol (13% ABV). Its flavor notes linger on and on. 👌🏻👌🏻
