Treixadura

Coto de Gomariz

The Flower and the Bee (La Flor y la Abeja) Treixadura 2019

Bright golden color. Aromas of tropical fruits, white flowers and sea spray. The palate leans more toward pear and unripe peach with a pleasant herbal note on the finish. Mouth filling texture, medium body and crisp acidity. There is a bit of weight (pleasant) but it’s not over the top. Still fresh (opened almost five years past the vintage date) and quite fruit forward. So interesting! — 9 days ago

Adega Marea Alta

Do Zoe Rías Baixas Albariño Blend 2022

This is a surprise. I did an educated pick from a wine store that doesn’t have the best selection. Very nice Albariño. It has all of the characteristics you would expect. Definitely a wine region that casual wine drinkers should look for. If you only drink Chardonnay, try this. I love the saline finish to this wine, like a flavor you would find in a good sherry. Light body, a delicious amount of acid, grapefruit and nectarines, and I get chalk, which is not common, maybe it’s me, but I get chalk in Albariño wine. Look people, drink more Albariño. — 7 months ago

Viña de Martin Escolma White Blend 2014

Blend of treixadura, albarino, lado, and torrontes. Pineapple, mango, starfruit, white flower, dandelion, Meyer lemon peel, with hints of caramel. Very strong, juicy pineapple flavors on the palatte. Age has definitely added some unique complexity to varietals you usually see as aromatic, inexpensive whites but this invokes memories of more sophisticated Napa sauvignon blanc. The color is deep golden, somewhere between a Sauternes and an aged Chardonnay. — 2 years ago

Heaven & Hell Treixadura Blend 2021

Elegant white blend of Albariño and other less well known white grape varietals. Nice and refreshing. Will definitely be a regular in the rotation. — 7 months ago

Branco de Santa Cruz Valdeorras Godello Blend 2018

A big, silky white with prominent non-friut aromas... floral (almost petrol), herbs and minerals... and hints of yellow apple and lemon. Lush on the palate with some citrus acid and lingering minerals. Paired with halibut cheeks over chevre-sauced pasta. Happy birthday to me!! — 10 months ago

Boy, when you’re emerging from Covid does that taste GOOD. it’s just a SS Treixadura but w homemade Picatta, yum. It’s big, yellow, very yellow. My taste is askew as well, but w salt, olive oil, tomatoes and Basil, we’ll call it Spa-Ital. minerals chock full. Not complex but perfect. — 9 months ago
