dark purple; blueberry, black plum, white pepper, black olive, hint of smoke; medium body, medium+ acidity, grippy tannin, 13.8% ABV; made from Syrah sourced from remote high altitude vineyard in Mendocino County 3.3 miles from the ocean and cofermented with 5% Viognier, 50% whole clusters used, aged 14 months in neutral French Oak puncheons; $48 — 4 years ago
Besides its acidity, this Sardinian wine is an especially good pair with seafood because it carries the smell of the ocean. Salinity bursts forth with citrus in tow, both on the nose and the palate. It’s a savory wine with loads of character, and it’s a Vermentino from Sardegna. That’s really all you need to know.

Dairyman Vineyard sits in the southern alluvial plains of the Russian River Valley near the ocean, a region where cooling fog comes in through the Petaluma Gap in the morning and once again in the evening. Medium Ruby color, with aromas of berries, tea and spices. On the palate flavors of raspberry and tart black cherry with herb, cedar and cinnamon. Fine tannins, medium+ finish with lively acidity, good structure, ending with fruit and cedar spice. — 5 months ago
Atlantic Ocean, lite...Notes tomorrow?
192H Update:
Nose has fully saturated oak plank, moist almonds, incredible sweet & saline notes, fermenting green apples, white chocolate bar, white candle wax and fresh yellow apple slice. Palate has almond broth (does that exist?), dried yellow apple, chamomile tea, moist bread, faint green olive (?) with mild saline finish, faint acidity. Damn I do not drink enough Manzanilla! — 4 years ago

Tasted double-blind. The 2018 Lucien Crochet pours a very pale straw color. On the nose, almost imperceptible pyrazines. Instead, the smell of an ocean breeze with a touch of cheesy funk that I find rather attractive. On the palate, there is an undeniable freshness to this wine that is really compelling. Citrus fruits with white pepper. Medium-plus acid. Satisfying finish. Very good! — 5 years ago
@maydan and it had a sour beer taste to it. — 6 years ago
Decant your white burgs! This improved so much with air. There’s such power and verve with incredible depth and seamlessness of its layered Chablisen minerality, with buttercream, roasted hazelnuts and an ocean spray-like salinity. It’s texturally captivating, wrapping around the palate with killer density without weight. Racy acids balance its richness and secondary nuttiness and it finishes forever. Excellent. — 8 months ago
Nose - gardenia, chamomile, ocean and clay pot. Appearance - Super duper clean. Beautiful light straw color. Main tasting notes - tart lemon all day with a little bit of grapefruit. Pretty acidic with a longer acid finish but the acid works well with the lemon flavor. Really nice with a spicy summer chicken dish. Not always a fan of acidic whites but this hits the spot. — 2 years ago
This Rías Baixas Albariño is pale yellow in the glass. The nose is like a bouquet of flowers, with some elegant citrus notes to hold them together. Lemon, lime and orange are all here for the smelling. The palate sings of citrus and apples and has an acidity that is zippy enough for oysters. The finish has a wonderful salinity which puts me in mind of the ocean. — 5 years ago
My last bottle! From a hillside vineyard on an eastern slope on the second ridge from the Pacific Ocean. Deep Ruby with subtle aromas of red fruits and peppery spices, aging softened the aromas a bit. The palate shows raspberry and cherry with flavorful spices. Vivid acidity with super soft tannins with an earthy feel. Lingering finish with ripe oaky notes, minerality and earthy tones. Aged well, drink now! Very nice! — 7 years ago
