Reserved Burgundy with a flash of Beaujolais brightness and fruit, fruit and oak both present but never really melding together. @ Niche Niche — 5 years ago
Super concentrated & quite aromatic. Salty beach pebbles, ripe apricots, but also a bit of salted caramel, tarte tatin and a lot of rocky, salty minerality. Intriguing.
Quite unctuous & rich on the palata, but also very fresh - zingy acidity, salty minerality countering the richness. This is definitely a food wine… but such an interesting one. Not everyone’s cup of tea but I love it! — 2 months ago
With niche niche x bistrot Paul Bert covid takeout special. Nose of creek brûlée and raspberry merengue. Still has lively bubbles, underripe strawberry but with like extra sweetness, brioche. Werthers and pop rocks. — 4 years ago
Alluring. Redolent of crushed morello cherry, black raspberry, blood orange, mint, singed herbs, camphor, cinnamon, crushed flowers, baked earth and volcanics. The oak is there, I’d like to see a little less though. There’s an umami undertone that I find really intriguing. The level of extract makes for a pleasant mouthful but never approaches being heavy handed or clumsy, its got an ease about it. Tannins are persistent but very detailed. Gorgeous wine — 5 years ago
Very nice Sangiovese and Syrah 80-20 blend, 2013, perfect for the better to best Super Tuscan (?) niche. Dark plum red but no big tannins, very soft palate, carefully balanced and almost elegant smoothness...nice aroma and dry, dark berry flavor with medium+ body ...drinkable with anything - a wine for all. My highest compliment...may buy again. — 3 years ago
With the beef course of our niche niche takeout dinner. Cork was funky as hell, a little trouble getting it out. But it fine. Barbecue, fresh pleather on the nose. Menthol, tar, tobacco, not a lot of fruit maybe stewed cherries but hardly. Balanced long finish, nice acidity. Awesome value, this is a solid very mature Margaux. — 4 years ago
Good full yellow. Aromas of peach, eucalyptus and pear. Luscious and ripe, with good grapefruit, white pepper, and a touch of honey in the mouth. Slightly rounder and sweeter than the 2018, boasting a long finish of chamomile and sweet herbs. (Ian D'Agata, Vinous, August 2019) — 5 years ago
