2017 vintage. The Côtes de Bordeaux is a fantastic playground for value seekers and this Castillon is no exception. To be honest I feel sorry for owner Patricia Aroldi that she has to sell a biodynamical wine of this quality at such a low price (4,95 euro consumer price, I kid you not!). A blend of 86% merlot and 14% cabernet franc. Bright red fruit and flowers in the nose. Good fruit concentration and ripe tannin structure with vibrant acidity and more than decent length. Very easy to drink now, but this should age well for a few years. Highly recommended. Abv. 13%. Vignobles Gabriel & co. — 6 years ago
Always like tasting Syrah’s and this from Italy is no exception. This is pretty aromatic with obvious pepper tones and an vegetational characteristics. Not like floral to me but more like the smell of brush in the summertime. Odd and most likely incorrect but something I remembered from being a kid. I think it drank well. A little warm on the mouth. The berries come through and there was a touch of green pepper. Side note I had this with bulgogi and that flavor could have been an off shoot of the meal. It really went well with the meal. Overall, this is a fun bottle of wine to drink. Good price point and good with the right foods. — 8 years ago
Date night with my wife in my childhood's home back home without any kid or pet in sight. We are working remotely this week from Toulouse, but this definitely feels like an extension of our summer holidays 😁.
The nose is very merlot-forward with notes of cherry, leather, earthy, clay touches, cedar, beef stew and almond powder. The palate is big, bright and broad, with a nice strawberry and earthy notes that carries on all along a strong acid drive, there is width, there is matter, it's rather muscular but you peep the 15% abv on the (barely readeable) back label you start to understand why! Tannins kick in the rear but they are not harsh, they caress and come across as a gentle hug around a very nice, meaty, juicy finish that goes on for a while. Cherry and earthy notes carry on and that savoury touch comes around to crown a very nicely made right bank effort. Kudos to the winemaker, this is punching way above its 10 euro retail price category and I have had many a saint emilion in my time that would be pale in comparison. — a year ago

Full bodied and warmer than a traditional sake, paired beautifully with simple nigiri. — 4 years ago
Oh those delightful little vin de liqueurs aka mistelles. This is a treat. Smells like grape jam and come to think of it there is a nuttiness that calls to mind a nut butter but more like a pistachio I think. A swirl of raspberry jam comes into play on the palate, weaving its way through bits and bobs of honeycomb. It’s not cloying though. Keeps you coming back for me. Keeps you young and honest. You like sweets, just admit it. Be the kid in the candy store. — 5 years ago

Amazing Napa Cab from St Helena made in a very Bordeaux style. Savory nose. Tomato bisque , dried thyme, and pepper. Cedar wood and leather. Medium acid on the palate. With great tannins for structure. Dark raspberry. Wonderfully balanced and savory. 14.5% , will definitely have to get some more. Highly recommended this is my kid of Napa Cab, not another fruit bomb here. — a year ago
Pop and pour through an aerator.
NOSE: cherry cordial, plum…fruit leathers from when I was a kid. Vanilla bean and chocolate. A little clove. Sandalwood. A dash of something tropical…like mango. Interesting.
TASTE: fresh cherry, nice zip of acidity, baking spices, fragrant wood, a little milk chocolate. Finished w/a little cooked meat. Medium weight, a little thin. Probably not worth the price to me - there are other Riojas in the same price range or cheaper that I much prefer - but good. 89.

A great wine. Food yeah! On its own during a sunny Friday afternoon, yep! It's gently sweet but you won't feel like you're having candy. It's enough that makes it slightly heavy on the tongue and easily enjoyable. If you like Riesling this is fantastic! Go Austria!
Color: Pale light yellow like those office sticky note rip offs. But this pale color signals refreshing like a light wine diamonds, not cheap office supplies.
Aroma: It smells juicy, fresh fruit sweet like a Riesling. It smells like peach, apricot, honey lemonade but not too sweet. Like a refreshing cooler that you would have on the beach. Just enough sweetness to counter a tan but not anywhere near enough you'll be attracting bees or feel like a kid in the candy shop. It smells delicious!
Taste: It tastes like a lighter Riesling. It had some sweetness and weight that clings to the tongue. So I would say its light to medium body. It has a honey lemon and peach taste like when you smell. Yep just enough sweetness to fein off the tang or alcoholic taste but definitely not a sweet wine. — 4 years ago
Costco, $12
Dark ruby, quite opaque. Dusty wood and fruit on the nose. Medium body, maybe a touch too acidic and just enough tannins. Kind of a savory fruit, reminds me of fruit punch as a kid as far as flavor goes but not in sweetness, it's actually quite dry. Keep tasting fruit punch in a good way and very happy for the price, although Costco probably has it cheaper than it usually is, rating it at the $12 I spent though. — 6 years ago
Dry, tart, light but not too much. Mild mineral finish. Refreshing — 9 years ago
