Kanonkop Estate

Paul Sauer Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2019

Nice South African wine dinner Wednesday at Angelo’s Cabarita on Sydney Harbour
Eight wines served with typical South African food so pairings were important as food can be quite spicy (Kingfish Crudo, Peri Peri Chicken, Bunny Chow Lamb Curry, Boerewors, Rib Eye and Malta Pudding)
The 2019 Kanonkop Paul Sauer Bordeaux blend from Magnum was excellent as was 2021 Meerlust Bordeaux blend as well as the 2017 Kanonkop Pinotage from Magnum. Also interesting was 2007 cold fermented Nederberg Edelkeur with the pud.
Great night.

Corton GC Rouge

Should be too early. It’s not. This wine is insane right now, ridiculously well balanced; it will probably get better but I doubt it’s a 30 year wine. — 4 years ago

Les Chanlins Pommard 1er Cru Pinot Noir

Robin hosted a dinner with the winemaker at her house, so we bought a few bottles as we really enjoyed his story. Just opened 1st bottle, nice but unremarkable for the price point. — a year ago

Porusot Meursault 1er Cru Chardonnay

Honeysuckle. Chamomile. Very Grand Cru Chablis like. Super light on the palate. It was a little too subtle for me at first, but I’ve come around - this is a pretty great white Burgundy. — 4 years ago
