A big boy with a clear Italian edge. Honestly, it was a difficult blind for me but JS, who brought the wine, sure did know how to make it a fun game of options. Discernible oak, JS’ chicanery, and the “Luce” like bottle shape pushed me right into the Super Tuscan camp. Then bam! A Montelpuciano was revealed. No one got it. The wine itself was not for me, but clearly left a good impression for others on the table. Ripe and sweet cherries, plums, toasty wood, smoke, tobacco, warm earth, and a touch of vanilla. — a year ago
Bought at Pine Orchard 12/20, $20. Estate bottles by Tenuta Luce. Montalcino. Awesome, typical Italian red to have with tomato sauces. — 3 years ago

Dark ruby hue. Aromas of blackcurrant, cherry, licorice, and rubber. Medium-plus body, with medium-plus tannins and acidity. Lengthy finish. Complex and balanced. 55% Merlot and 45% Sangiovese. — 2 years ago
1986 vintage. Château Loumède, Premières Côtes de Blaye. What a nice surprise! Merlot Noir 50%, Cabernet Sauvignon 35% et Côt Rouge (Malbec) in the commune of Sainte-Luce. Opens up nicely after an hour with delicate aromas of tobacco and leather. A fresh and elegant light-weight with good length. A pleasure to drink. Abv. 12,5%. — 2 years ago

My daughter turns 10 today and to celebrate we popped this bottle of 20 year old wine.
It's showing a bit of age as there's a brickish rim around the glass and the nose shows tertiary aromas with mushrooms and wet forest soil. Upon opening, black currant and raspberry could still be felt but it faded away since then. There is still tar and a tiny bit of oak in there too. The palate is well designed with a good acid drive, some tangy, black fruits notes, some width, a lively mouthfeel with a bit of grain that leaves a drying, dusty layer over a rather long fruity finish with a pinch of oak. 20 years old and kicking 👍🏻 we had it along ribs we grilled and it did go quite well. — 9 months ago
Pop and pour at Luce in San Francisco. A majestic dark ruby red color. On the nose: bursting from the glass are beautiful notes of plum, stewed meat, cedar, some black raspberry, smoke, floral. Taste: smooth, rich, juicy wine with dark fruit, worn leather, meaty, bitter chocolate, and a spiced graphite long finish. YUM! A day before fire up for the Kevin Hart show in SF. Cheers! — 2 years ago

Ripe red fruit, earthy with light smoke. An impressive wine for the price. — 3 months ago
