Yes I know this is way too early but I really wanted to see where this was. From a very old “mixed black” vineyard on a hill of decomposing slate loam. With an hour of air it’s showing deep, low-toned berry fruit, cracked stones, and a little warm gravel. Structured and very old world on the palate, it’s got a youthful wall of tannin guarding it right now, but there’s nice flavor density underneath and no hint of jamminess or residual sugar. Stow it for 3-5 years at least. But it will be really good. 9.2+ — 10 months ago
13.5% ABV Salute to Lulu Peyraud of Domaine Tempier in France. Lulu’s father owned the vineyard , and she along with her husband took it over. Sadly we lost her in October 2020 at the age of 102 y/o. This is a blend of old vine Mataro and Grenache. Light salmon color, watermelon initially , later apple. Very nice! — 2 years ago

Really good but drink around now. Stewed fruits but still fresh. Not a Bordeaux style but a bit larger with elegant and a bit of power. Glad I could share this with my folks. Fruits are rhubarb now after about an hour. Leaning down a little but still good. Definitely open the bottle of you have it soon imo — 8 months ago

Deep ruby in color; black cherries, baking spices, and leather on the nose; medium acidity; high tannins; tastes like black plums, blackberries, and boysenberries with a long finish. Chewy, good mouth feel. Nellie says it ok. I love it. I bet it would have been great with a steak, if I hadn't reverse seared them. The oak in the wine is intensified by the smoke on the steak. An “intermezzo” as we prepared for the reds flights. This was served blind. The 1978 shows really young for its age. Most at the table, including myself, were convinced that this was classified growth Bordeaux with maybe 20-30 years of age. However at least one of us thought it was Napa…and whoa. The color was dark and handsome though there was some sediment (to expected). The fruit was bright but I felt it was secondary to the dried leaf tobacco, earth and leather notes. There was good acid too. Tannins have integrated. Lots of wows when this was revealed while the Napa holdouts gave a smile. Bravo. Dark ruby with bold, intense juicy dark cherries, blackberries, plums, spice and oak on the nose. Medium body and medium tannins that give room to a nice acidity. Cherry pie, dark berry jam, tobacco, bayleaf and clove on the palate lead to a beautiful medium long finish with notes of caramel. Beautiful wine with complex notes that keeps evolving as it decants. — 2 years ago

The 2022 Evangelho Heritage blend by Bedrock is very light on its feet with a streak of bracing acidity — almost effervescence — along with light tannins. It’s a deep hazy purple in its youth with a nose of tart berry compote and leather. Seems like it will mature nicely. — 6 months ago
