Tannat

Bodega Garzon

Reserva Maldonado Tannat

Fruit forward and well balanced. Raspberry cassis through and through. Nose and taste are aligned. Solid wine, at the average price point in the US and EU there may be better values to be had. — 10 days ago

Bodega Garzon

Tannat 2022

Heavy stuff.
Having the last glass on day 3. It's mellowed out quite a bit. Juicy mouthfeel, I taste and smell candy and nuts; my brain says Boston baked bean candy. It finishes with brooding, dark cherry and blueberry, with a little nutmeg. The tannins have chilled, but still leathery. I enjoyed it!

Château Bouscassé (Alain Brumont)

Vieilles Vignes Madiran Tannat 2003

Best one from the bunch I bought some 20 years ago. Dark, mysterious red. Full bodied, powerful. Spice box. Coffee grind, dark chocolate and cherries. Dusty, cacao like tannins. Bold and brazen. — a month ago

La Clarine Farm

Home Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2012

[35% Tempranillo, 28% Grenache, 21% Tannat, 14% Syrah, 2% Cabernet Sauvignon] Still dark purple color, dark fruit and earthy aromas and flavors, some nice depth and balance and also lots of structure, I’d call this quite an unique Sierra Foothills red due to the cepage, seems like it will last quite a while, kudos to Hank!! — 2 months ago

Pisano

RPF Reserva Personal de la Familia Progreso Tannat 2021

Pisano RPF Tannat 2021 🇺🇾
A bold statement from Uruguay’s signature grape.

Crafted from 100% Tannat, this wine is part of Pisano’s most prestigious line, with RPF meaning Reserva Personal de la Familia, originally held back for family use only. Aged for 10–12 months in French oak, this is a powerful, intense, and deeply expressive red that doesn’t hold back.

On the nose: Explosive aromas of black plum, blackberry, charred tobacco, leather, and a heavy dusting of dark spices.

On the palate: A dark-fruited cascade, plum, blackberry compote, and baking spices unfold with layers of earthy, savory depth. Expect firm, drying tannins (classic Tannat!) balanced by juicy fruit and oak integration. Give it time, as it needs a good decant to fully show its hand.

Mouthfeel: Dense, textured, with a long, flavorful finish that sticks with you.

Food pairing? A must. Think grilled meats, short ribs, or slow-cooked lamb.

A wine that commands attention and celebrates bold Latino character, pure power with soul.

Cheers! 🥂🔥

Château Montus

Madiran Tannat Blend 2007

Sturdy and tannic. Not dark nor brooding. Still enough fruit to keep things balanced. I actually kinda missed the usual barn, poop and cattle smell. — 5 months ago
