Always as much pleasure with this solar cuvée, not lacking in silkyness and freshness. Congratulations Alain Graillot for this beautiful cuvée "Crozes in the sun of Morocco"

Mélaric

Le Tandem 2016

60% Grolleau/ 40% Cab Franc. Serious reduction on the nose which blows off to find springtime, flowery aromatics. The palate seems simple at first with some fresh red fruit & a light to medium body. As it opens it shows some smoky notes & a hint of pepper. Easy to approach & easier to drink. — 6 years ago

Poiré Authentique Pear Cider

Oh man. This is so good. So pure. Dileneated pears and chrysanthemum. Great acidity and lovely sweetness. Just so fresh and did I mention... pure. Hot damn! Just plain yummy. Eric Bordelet and Jacques Perritaz (Ciderie du Vulcain) are the true kings of ciders for me. They changed the way I think of the beverage. — 8 years ago

Brewer-Clifton

Sta. Rita Hills Chardonnay 2010

This has held up very well. Pristine orchard fruit flavors in tandem with roasted nuts and lively acidity. Could easily pass for Premier Cru juice from Chablis. Crack em open if you got em! — 8 years ago

Dragon's Head

Wild Fermented Cider

Very pale yellow in color. Good head on pour and good carbonation with medium to large sized bubbles. Delicate aroma. Lightly flavored in mouth with some bitterness, followed by slight malic and lactic acid tastes on finish, followed by a slight astringency with pulp-flavored aftertaste. If you like fruit forward ciders, this is not one of them; this is austere, dry to off-dry, bare-bone, minimalist cider. A worthy exercise in creative or alternative cider making styles but it won't be to everyone's taste. I enjoyed it, so it's worth a try if you can approach it with an open mind. — 9 years ago

Barolo Nebbiolo 2019

Whoa, a bargain baby. Although it shows some edges, time will tell how they resolve. A touch of VA on the nose took a sec to blow off, then it screamed of red fruit and smoldering tar. The tar thankfully went from smoldering to sparking off here and there, but then the earth, wow, this is earthy, but still, the fruit dominates. The palate nails the Nebbiolo high amounts of everything (acid, alcohol, tannins structure). But the tannins play fairly, a highlight accessory, not a scene stealer. The tannic grip hangs on but in tandem with fruit and soil into which rose petals may have fallen last spring. I can’t believe the price on this bebe. — a year ago

Tandem Syrah 2018

Always so pleasant to taste this beautiful Syrah from Morocco, both strong and very well balanced with these flowery aromas of violet and pepper. Cool to 15 degrees to balance the slightly marked alcoholic power.

Toujours aussi agréable de goûter cette belle Syrah du Maroc, à la fois costaud et très bien équilibré avec ces arômes fleuris de violette et poivre. Rafraîchir à 15 degrés pour équilibrer la puissance alcoolique un peu marquée.

Domaine Dupont

Etienne Dupont Cidre Bouché Brut de Normandie 2016

I drink so much local cider in the Pacific Northwest, but it’s good to benchmark occasionally versus the Old World standards. More head on the initial pour than cider in the glass; the head looks more like a malt syrup ale than a clean cider. After dampening down, the cider shows moderate carbonation with steady flow of pinpoint bubbles through ultra clear golden brown. Funk and maybe butter, but a dense apple profile on the nose. Frothy but lightly flavored in the mouth, rich, tending semi dry with a frothy finish. Buttery, malic and slightly perfumed aftertaste. Mild pulp astringency and flavor emerges with repeated tasting. Product is 5.5% alc/vol, unfiltered, unpasteurized. Subtly textured mouthfeel overall and lightly flavored, nuanced and totally delightful, unexpected excellence as it tastes so good in characteristics I did not anticipate it would display. It’s just not crafted as most New World ciders are, in all the best ways. Calling it rustic misses most of the positives, at least of this vintage; there’s much more complexity going on here. Great value and a delightful companion on a chilly early fall evening. — 7 years ago

Dürnsteiner Federspiel Riesling 2019

There’s a lot of silly people doing silly things in wine. There’s this what I call the “craft wine” movement akin to the “craft beer” period. It’s all tits on a bull. But this…this is beautiful. Reminds me to keep on perfecting my ciders and wines — 5 years ago

Keefer Ranch Vineyard Pinot Noir

The label took a hit over the years and the vintage is unreadable but I think it was pre 2010. Bright ruby in color. Highly perfumed with wild flowers, ripe raspberry and potpourri. The mouthfeel is soft and bright with tones of black cherry, cola and a touch of mint. The medium long finish was vibrant and juicy. Very California in style. — 6 years ago
