Tandem Ciders

Compañía Vitivinícola Tandem

Ars Nova Navarra 2004

Deep garnet in color; tart cherries, plums, and black pepper on the nose; high acidity; moderate tannins; tastes like raspberries, cherries, and crushed gravel with a long finish. I expected less acidity after adding. Still pretty good. I like the taste, but I don't think this wine was made for aging. — 9 months ago

Le Tandem 2016

60% Grolleau/ 40% Cab Franc. Serious reduction on the nose which blows off to find springtime, flowery aromatics. The palate seems simple at first with some fresh red fruit & a light to medium body. As it opens it shows some smoky notes & a hint of pepper. Easy to approach & easier to drink. — 4 years ago

La Rasina

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2016

Rich and aromatic. Soaring, spicy red fruit.
Cinnamon. Sarsaparilla. Tannin and fruit working in tandem. Gonna be a real beauty in 5-7 years.

Tandem Syrah 2018

Always so pleasant to taste this beautiful Syrah from Morocco, both strong and very well balanced with these flowery aromas of violet and pepper. Cool to 15 degrees to balance the slightly marked alcoholic power.

Toujours aussi agréable de goûter cette belle Syrah du Maroc, à la fois costaud et très bien équilibré avec ces arômes fleuris de violette et poivre. Rafraîchir à 15 degrés pour équilibrer la puissance alcoolique un peu marquée.

Domaine Dupont

Etienne Dupont Cidre Bouché Brut de Normandie 2016

I drink so much local cider in the Pacific Northwest, but it’s good to benchmark occasionally versus the Old World standards. More head on the initial pour than cider in the glass; the head looks more like a malt syrup ale than a clean cider. After dampening down, the cider shows moderate carbonation with steady flow of pinpoint bubbles through ultra clear golden brown. Funk and maybe butter, but a dense apple profile on the nose. Frothy but lightly flavored in the mouth, rich, tending semi dry with a frothy finish. Buttery, malic and slightly perfumed aftertaste. Mild pulp astringency and flavor emerges with repeated tasting. Product is 5.5% alc/vol, unfiltered, unpasteurized. Subtly textured mouthfeel overall and lightly flavored, nuanced and totally delightful, unexpected excellence as it tastes so good in characteristics I did not anticipate it would display. It’s just not crafted as most New World ciders are, in all the best ways. Calling it rustic misses most of the positives, at least of this vintage; there’s much more complexity going on here. Great value and a delightful companion on a chilly early fall evening. — 5 years ago

Dürnsteiner Federspiel Riesling 2019

There’s a lot of silly people doing silly things in wine. There’s this what I call the “craft wine” movement akin to the “craft beer” period. It’s all tits on a bull. But this…this is beautiful. Reminds me to keep on perfecting my ciders and wines — 2 years ago

Keefer Ranch Vineyard Pinot Noir

The label took a hit over the years and the vintage is unreadable but I think it was pre 2010. Bright ruby in color. Highly perfumed with wild flowers, ripe raspberry and potpourri. The mouthfeel is soft and bright with tones of black cherry, cola and a touch of mint. The medium long finish was vibrant and juicy. Very California in style. — 4 years ago
