Recent notes suggested this wine was declining and the fruit fading.This was cause for concern as have a few of these I’ve been patiently cellaring. Well, I’m very happy to report this bottle, a Martine’s import, was stellar. To my palate, the wine is in a perfect place. Tertiary aromas and flavors dominate. Very complex aromas of sous bois, herbs de provence, wet saddle and red fruits. The palate is vivid and lively. Extraordinary depth and length that never faded. I can’t say enough great things about this wine. There’s no chance this bottle was fading or won’t last several more years. I don’t think it can improve as it’s almost perfection right now. En mag - what a stunner - 78% Cab - 11% CF - 6% Merlot and the rest PV - celebrating my lovely wife’s birthday - picked some nice wines to celebrate- this wine from Pritchard Hill made by Mondavi continues unabated - This is a beautiful vintage with a dense bluish/purple color and a beautiful nose of blueberries, violets, a touch of licorice, truffle and background oak - full-bodied with incredible sweet and well-integrated tannins - loads of forest floor cedar and spices - complex, Bordeaux-styled that is amazing approachable and sassy - big bold and ostentatious - this will cellar for decades but why as this is a stellar wine now - this is my 1700th wine — 3 years ago

Stellar nose. Smoke, leather, truffle, bbq, super mineral, mint, forest floor, cassis, mineral, so clean, loads of cedar and pine, palate is even a bit young. So juicy and complex. Mineral and fresh. Big tannic spine. Complex and long. Can still use some age. Gorgeous now. — 5 years ago

Pontet Canet tasting and dinner with Alfred Tesseron.

Certainly one of the better 2011’s I’ve had. Drinks nicely early considering 2011 was not a stellar vintage.

The body is lean. The fruits are bright and ripe. Lean blackberries, lots of both cherries, strawberries, strong presence of dark spice with heat, crushed dry rocks, clay and bright fresh florals.
