And now finally back to the regularly scheduled program. After fun holiday travels, non-fun work travels, and then battling 🤒, I finally was able to enjoy a glass of wine last night. I went with the Limerick Lane Russian River Valley Zinfandel and it was a nice choice. Nothing fanciful about the wine, but I do consider it to be a reliable Zin option.
Last night this 2019 was giving lots of dark fruit, licorice, and a bit of herbs. The wine shows both balance and refinement. In terms of style, this wine tends to be a more reserved Zin— not overly jammy. The abv is listed at 14.8% but does not come across that high.
This wine wants to be served with a giant burger, melted Swiss cheese, mushrooms and grilled onions. Or maybe that’s just me and my “finally not sick” cravings. I didn’t have a burger, but it was still enjoyable. — 2 months ago
