Went to buy a wake surf board. The store didn’t have any but a wine shop was near by. Saw a TikTok about this and had to try. Still way too young. Has some of the green pepper but wow. Smooth tannins and gorgeous dark fruit. Hints of black licorice. Had a big ribeye so very happy now. — 11 days ago

Excellent Napa Cab from Montes. The 2008 summer was very hot, keeping yields low and providing concentrated berries at harvest. This is a big, full bodied wine delivering lots of ripe dark fruit, pepper, tobacco and some chocolate. Smooth and almost velvety in the mouth it has a long and pleasant finish. Decanted for 2 hours, this will last another 15 years or more.

The final bottle of the case. This wine is now darker and smokier on the nose with less of the blue fruit and more of the stewed black fruits. The palate still has wonderful acidity but is far less lush. Flavors of wet earth mingle with darker stewed plum and blackberries and lead to a bit of a shorter finish that shows a touch more puckering acidity. — 6 years ago

This wine was remarkable in all aspects, although I personally liked the standard 2013 as much or more. Sam said that this was mostly Dr Crane fruit, and for me the intensity was heightened across the board. I liked the standard 2013 MM just a little more! — 8 years ago
