Star Angel by Montes
Paso Robles Syrah
The final bottle of the case. This wine is now darker and smokier on the nose with less of the blue fruit and more of the stewed black fruits. The palate still has wonderful acidity but is far less lush. Flavors of wet earth mingle with darker stewed plum and blackberries and lead to a bit of a shorter finish that shows a touch more puckering acidity.

Mar 25th, 2018It’s incredible how much better this wine is getting with age. The nose is now reminiscent of blueberry pie along with notes of plums and blackberries. The wine is incredibly soft on the palate with just a touch of spice. Soft, smooth, juicy flavors of blackberries, blueberries and plums lead to gentile smoky notes and touches of spice with soft, round acidity. The finish is long and juicy with a lingering touch of spice. This is a spectacular accompaniment to beef enchiladas.

Dec 2nd, 2017Dark, smoky nose. Notes of black plum, blackberries and mocha with just a whiff of alcohol. A full, rich, juicy wine with lots of spice and oak. Notes of dark fruits lead to flavors of cocoa powder, oak and black earth with big acidity. The finish is full of big, but soft teeth coating tannins with touches of spice and earth. A great wine for glazed ribs and mac and cheese!

Oct 30th, 2016Deep, opaque purple in the glass with just a hint of bricking on the edges. Rich, ripe aromas of red and black fruits with notes of blackberry, raspberry and plum with just subtitle notes of oaky smoke and raisin. Still very fresh and lively on the palate. Dark, juicy flavors of stewed fruits lead to bright acidity and well integrated oak with just a touch of dried herbs and soft, dusty tannins. The do so is long and rich and sticks to your teeth along with just a hint of spice.
