Dark and smoky, needed lots and lots of air, but really pleasant once it opened up. Black cherry, mocha, cigar. — 5 years ago
Followed up Sottimano with this. Smoother and should probably have been first however paired nicely with full dinner. — 7 years ago
There is a slight misalignment between the fruit and phenolic ripeness, also a mismatch between the oak and the terroir, but it is still an authentic, genuine Langhe Nebbiolo. Wide range of aromatic nuances and dynamic expression with authority. Less polished than Roagna and less subtle than Cascina delle Rose but those three are of similar mold. A relaxed style of winemaking that is complete opposite of producers like Albino Rocca, Bruno Rocca and Sottimano who have a perfectionist approach, — 6 years ago
Shared with Robin and Rebecca for a late lunch. Was told this drank like a Barolo and didn’t disappoint, was medium to full bodied and ready to drink, smooth and fruit forward but not overly. Low $30, would definitely buy again. — 4 months ago
Just so nice! Great for a night in. — 7 years ago

The 2023 Matè is a gorgeous, crystalline wine. Crushed rose petals, mint, white pepper, star anise and orange peel all grace this exquisite, chiseled red. As usual, strong savory and floral notes are front and center. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, October 2024)
